This was overall a good experience, Alex first brought us to a beautiful monastery at the start of the trail, and then we continued onto a gorgeous hike. He kept with our pacing and comfortably throughout the hike. The pictures he took were excellent 5/5 stars for the tour and Alex. We did have some issues contacting the company itself on Viator, which is why a star is missing. These issues were resolved once we had direct contact with Alex the morning of.
Doing a private experience allows you to have more control over what you want to do. The other tours to Mt Olympus/Dion are longer because it’s on a bus and many more people. Although our tour started a little later than we thought, we had a fantastic time. Alex was very informative and willing to do whatever we wanted. He gave us suggestions and we were able to pick what we wanted to do and how much time we wanted to spend at each spot. We are hikers and are so thankful we chose to do the private tour to actually get a true hiking experience at Mt Olympus. We visited a couple monasteries, a little town at the base of Mt Olympus, Holy Cave, the waterfall(freezing water but stunningly beautiful) and of course our hike. All in all, a beautiful day spent. Alex was willing to take us to a museum as well, but we were satisfied with our experiences and tired. Our tour started at 930am and we were back at 4pm(1600). Later that evening, he sent me a couple dinner suggestions. One which we went to that evening. The food was excellent and not like anything we had eaten in Thessaloniki thus far. Highly recommend if you are looking for an enjoyable day catered to what your group wants to do!
Nice scenery in the forest, monastery, Dionysos’ cave, and waterfalls are all scenic. The hike is easy if you are a little sportive. Some but not many small rocks and roots, I don’t think you need hiking boots but sneakers or robust shoes will do. Alessandros was very nice and adapts to your interest and fitness. All in all a nice day out, and after all, hey, you reached the Olympus.
We had an absolutely wonderful day exploring the ancient sites of Vergina and Pella. The archaeological treasures were breathtaking, especially the Royal Tombs of Vergina—so moving and beautifully preserved. Our driver, Mr. Alexandros, was not only punctual and professional, but also incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. He shared local insights and little-known facts along the way, making the ride just as enjoyable as the sites themselves. The vehicle was spotless and comfortable, with water provided and excellent air conditioning. This trip exceeded our expectations and is a must-do for history lovers visiting Thessaloniki!
Guide was friendly, knowledgeable about the area, and flexible with the start time. The hike was beautiful.
The wife and I booked this tour mid February looking for a real hiking adventure to Mt Olympus not just a leisurely walk about. I must say we were not disappointed. Our tour guide Alexandros picked us up from our hotel and drove us to Litochoro for a short break before heading up the mountain with a short stop at a beautiful monastery then on to begin the real adventure. The rest of our time was spent hiking along the Enipeas river gorge traversing over rocks where bridges had been washed out, climbing over under and around downed trees and seeing all the beauty this mythical mountain had to offer. The scenery was amazing and serene as a light snow fell. The hike was not too difficult but was at time challenging climbing back up to the old monastery where the car park was located. It was exactly what we were looking for. Alex was great. Knowledgeable and friendly and easy to have a nice conversation with. Being a private tour it was completely customized to what we wanted to do and the pace we wanted to go at. Keep in mind we wanted to go hard and fast but if that’s not your thing he’ll customize a more leisurely hike at a more modest pace. It’s all about how you want your adventure. He gave us ours exactly how we wanted it. The price was good value for money as well. Absolutely recommend.
We had a great experience on our trip to Mt. Olympus! Our guides were friendly and very flexible. They even helped us with finding a place to eat lunch. We would definitely use them again when we go back!
