Description

Perfect communication via WhatsApp to arrange the pickup. The guide, Axel, was wonderful. Very polite, friendly, and knowledgeable about the route. He did not stop until he found a sleeping frog to show us. The lunch was very tasty and the hot springs were very cool. The drivers were very friendly too. Thank you very much!!!!
Such an amazing & inclusive experience. Hike: moderately intense as there are ~100 steps you have to climb through the terrain. Our 5&9 year old kids were with us and enjoyed it however my 5 year old got tired around the last 15 minutes. The hike is 2-2.5 hours then you go to the separate lunch location Lunch: good food consisting of rice, beans, chips, pork or chicken + salad. The restaurant has one side for your guess but the other side has additional items for purchase and the fresa (strawberry ice) + cafe con leche were amazing Hot springs: separate location from the hike, not far from lunch. This place exceeded our expectations as it contained 18 diff hot & cold springs +2 water slides for kids. We drove separately and were able to stay as long as we wanted once the tour was over Tour: Franklin our guide, was amazing and very knowledgeable and passionate about the information. We drove 2.5 hours in from San Juan & even though we were late, they sent us an alternate location to meet them instead of us using the bus services. This worked out great because they allow 1.5 hours for the springs but we stayed an additional hours with our kids.
We did this tour as one of many in Costa Rica in February 26 - and it was by far the worst. It already started that the bus (which was not only supposed to pick us up) at the springs, arrived much too late. Then it was fully booked, but it was a bus with three seats plus an emergency seat in the row, so everything was very cramped. I even had to sit over the wheel well and had to tighten my legs hard during the half-hour ride to even sit there. Upon arrival at the park everything went haywire at first because the buses were not there for a possible further journey or storage of the things. The first part of the tour went over a stony and especially with many stairs paved path over the lava flow of 1968. Especially for the older participants an absolute imposition, as the route could only be done under great "breathlessness". Due to the wetness, the way back was not entirely safe. The second part was a "walk" through another area of the park, which was easy to walk through and also quite nice. As on the way to the volcano and in this area, however, there was only scant explanation of the guide. Due to the slow participants, the group was also far apart, so that not everyone (even the few explanations) noticed. You could have walked the path on your own and would not have missed anything. Afterwards, we went in a narrow bus to a plant with hot springs. The food was served in a restaurant in front of the springs. The first impression suggested mass handling, but was local and actually still the best thing about the tour. Problem with the subsequent visit of the springs: it was a Saturday. What we hadn't considered was that it's a main day of fighting for the locals. Accordingly, the small facility was full and therefore did not invite you to linger. In addition, there are only relatively small basins that were quickly overcrowded. The one hour provided here was therefore more than sufficient. We are not usually that critical, but this tour really has nothing positive and is a mass check-in to collect. Fortunately, we have experienced many other tours where the performers have shown a lot of passion and promoted their country.
Even with the volcano in the clouds and the rainy mist in the air it was a beautiful hike and well worth it.
Our tour guide Axel was amazing. Really nice and took the time to really immerse us in the flora and the nature. The hike was a bit challenging but really rewarding
It was an amazing experience with Rasta as our guide. We saw so many animals in the rainforest right from the start, then hiked up the lava path from the last eruption ,which was an interesting story. After that we had a great lunch and finished with the fantastic hot springs. I recommend this tour to everyone!
Errol was our trip guide and I can not express how grateful we were to get him as our guide. He made the entire experience magical. His deep knowledge of the plant and animal life was inspiring. And we learned so much about the history of the land and the volcano. We saw Tucans, wild turkeys and chickens, frogs, and howler monkeys and so much more. His knowledge of the plants was truly amazing. The lunch we had was a traditional Costa Rican lunch and they did not skip on the portions. The hot springs were the perfect way to end the experience. Can not rave enough about the experience, worth every penny.
Rasta was a fantastic guide. Extremely knowledgeable and fun. He knew so much about the volcano and the nature. The views were beautiful. The hiking was great and the food and hot springs were super relaxing.
We had a great time! Knowledgeable guides made the hike very entertaining. Our teens loved the hot springs even when a rain storm moved in. It was a great experience! Highly recommend!
So fun! They are very knowledgeable. It is totally worth the price. Cool hike, good food, and fun hot springs! Best tour I did in Costa Rica!
