Amazing Incan Trail Experience

There are many amazing things about hiking the Inca Trail, but what stood out most was the incredible team who made it possible. The porters were truly inspiring—carrying heavy loads with strength and positivity, always greeting us with smiles. Huge thanks to our head porter, Melkeades, and his team for everything they did behind the scenes. The food was outstanding. Chef William and Sous Chef Cristian created delicious, creative meals every day—some of the best I had in Peru. Baking a cake at high altitude was especially impressive! Our guides, Sharon and Ricardo, were exceptional—knowledgeable, patient, and always focused on safety. They made sure everyone felt supported, no matter their pace. AB Expeditions stands out for how much they care about their team and communities. Their commitment is clear in everything they do. I highly recommend AB Expeditions—they made this an unforgettable experience.

Incredible and unforgettable Inca Trail expedition

We went on the four day Inca Trail hike to Machu Picchu with AB Expeditions and had an amazing experience. Our guides Ricardo and Sharon were kind, knowledgeable, friendly, encouraging when we needed it, and just all around good company. Our chef William and sous chef Cristian provided delicious meals with peruvian cuisine and tea times that really hit the spot after long days of hiking. Our porters headed by Melkeades were incredible, hustling every day nimbly up and down the trails and providing us warm campsites complete with bathrooms, always smiling and cheerful. We also enjoyed spending the time on this incredible journey with 5 other hikers that we got to know as we completed the trek together over the four days. It was very difficult at times, but honestly it was an experience I’ll never forget. The sights were incredible and the people were amazing. AB Expeditions treated us like family, and we all felt like one big family. I’m glad that we went with an ethical tour company that taught us so many interesting things about the Incan and Peruvian cultures. We highly recommend this experience and very highly recommend AB expeditions.

Unforgettable adventure

Inka Trail with AB Expeditions is the best thing you can do in Peru. Trekking itself is amazing - every day you get to see breathtaking views of the mountains and also visit fascinating archeological sites. It is quite demanding though, so it’s better if you are in good physical condition. Our group was only 4 people, so it was very comfortable and we could adjust the pace. We did lots of breaks to rest. We couldn’t imagine a better guide than Ricardo - man full of passion and knowledge. Completing the trail wouldn’t be possible without our amazing chef Moises and his assistant Santos, who prepared 3 delicious meals for us every day, including vegetarian options. Same for the porters team, lead by Hernan, who carried all the equipement and cared for us. Everything was perfectly organised, so that we could focus only on hiking and enjoying the views. Highy recommend!

Hands down the best

If you are looking for a company that treats their porters well - look no further than AB Expeditions. They are by far the most ethical choice (more on that later). We did the 4-day Inca trial with the most incredible experience with our guides Ricardo and Sharon. Their English was superb. They always were kind, considerate, and prioritized our safety. They also had great personalities and brought a vibe that over these 4 days we are a family that is going to get through this together. They are both very knowledgeable about history, archeology, the flora and fauna. You could not be in better hands. The days were hard, and by the time we reached camp we were exhausted. So you can imagine our joy to find our tents built, sleeping pads, and sleeping bags already ready for us. Another highlight was William the chef. He served us feasts at every meal. The meals were freshly cooked, healthy options that felt light, but we left full from all the dishes. Honestly William made food better than restaurants I’ve eaten at in Cusco and Lima. Their company was founded by a former porter. They set fair weight limits on how much porters can carry, and they were the only porters across companies that I saw were wearing high-quality clothing and shoes. Even though Melkeades and his porters are carrying about 50 lbs you can see them chatting amongst themselves, smiling, and enjoying their work. Additionally, this company gives back by building schools in the poor rural communities of the sacred valley and teaches kids English. The company is very professional throughout the Inca trail, communicated very well during the booking process, and all of this led to a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I have no doubt that this is the best Inca trail company.

Trip of a Lifetime

Where to begin. Trekking the Inca trail has been a lifelong dream of mine, and I was so incredibly fortunate to be able to achieve that dream with my girlfriend and AB Expeditions. We have always been big hikers and the Inca trail is definitely the ultimate hike. Right from the start with AB Expeditions we knew we made the right choice. We first met our guides Ricardo and Sharon, and we could see how open, knowledgeable, and welcoming they were. Ricardo and Sharon gave detailed explanations of the terrain, flora, fauna, and of course the many Incan ruins we encountered along the way. Our trek was 4 days and 3 nights and had a group of 10 people and we were very fortunate in that everyone was friendly and we all got along very well. In addition to our 2 guides and 10 trekkers, there were 16 porters led by the amazing Melequiades. I am in awe how someone can carry 28 kilos on their back while running up and down the mountains. Our trip would have been 100% impossible if it were not for our porters. They carried our tents and our 4 kilo duffle bags with ease. Our trek would also be impossible if it were not for our Chefs William and Cristian. I it is extremely impressive that we had gourmet delicious and nutritious meals three times a day in the middle of the wilderness. Our food was some of the best that we’ve ever had! What’s even more remarkable is that they carried all of the food and cooking equipment on their backs the whole way. Our porters and chefs are superhuman. Sharon and Ricardo called our group a family and that is exactly how it felt. This truly was the trip of a lifetime. We learned so much with AB expeditions and I love how AB also does social work. They build free schools in the sacred valley in very poor areas where they teach English. I am very proud to have contributed and been apart of their charitable missions. If I could give more stars than 5 I would. I highly recommend that anybody looking to trek the Inca trail book with AB expeditions

Time of our lives

Me and my two sons started the 4 day Inka trail enticipating a mild hike all the way to the famous site of Machu Picchiu. At the beginning, we were full of excitement and energy. As the days passed, the tour got increasingly more challenging and adventerous as we had to fight with the various conditions: warm days, shivering nights and also, a small hickup, as my older son got sick one night, due to eating too much food of our outstanding chef, Sergio. However, the AB Expeditions crew was fully prepared and thanks to our guide, Giovanny, we gathered lots of incredible memories, and we recommend this 4 day program to anyone, who feels fit and strong enough to complete such a challenging hike.

Amazing Efforts from our Entire Team!!

Our guides, Ricardo and Sharon did a wonderful job helping us navigate various challenges throughout our trek. They were patient, knowledgeable, and calm each day, giving us the confidence to continue this memorable journey. Once we were safely at camp, delicious, nutritious meals prepared by our chefs, William and Cristian, help sustain our energy levels each day. Their meals were not only creative, but insanely impressive seeing as they had to carry all of their cooking supplies with them along the trail. This journey would certainly not have been possible without our astonishing strong porters led by Melkeades carrying the camp supplies and some of our load as well. Thank you to this incredible team for making this expedition one to remember!

Experience of a Lifetime! Couldn’t Recommend Enough

Best trip I’ve ever been on with the best tour group! Ricardo and Sharon make you feel like family from the very beginning. They are expert tour guides, leading the group throughout the four day expedition through the Inca Trail, giving awesome history lessons at each archeological site. Ricardo and Sharon are so extremely knowledgeable about the trail itself, the flora and fauna, and bring you to the best sites that not many groups explore. The porters, led by Melkeades, work incredibly hard to make your experience as enjoyable as possible, hauling up to 28kg of bags, tents, and food up to the campsite, beautifully setting up camp every night. The trip is all brought together by chefs William and Cristian, who prepare a delicious array of Peruvian cuisine for every breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Every meal is unique and beyond delicious, and you can really tell that William and Cristian truly love their jobs and take passion in feeding us. Could not recommend AB expeditions enough. If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience, ranging from remarkable tour guides to enjoying delicious food with lovely people along the Incan Trail, there is no better group than AB to book with.
