Overall, a great day out. Didn't start too well, we had to hunt for the tour guide and although the trip was advertised as small group, we were ushered onto a 22 seat old bus. We arrived at Tala Game reserve and were allocated to a 4×4 with 12 other people. The game drive was excellent, great guide and loads of photo opportunities. We saw rhino's, giraffes, wildebeest, hippos, birds and antelope. The trip to Natal lion park was a waste of time. 30 minutes drive on poor quality roads. We arrived at Natal and the lion enclosure was very small. With 22 people cramped into the bus, only the people on the left of the bus could see the lions on the very short (approximately 500m) drive through. We couldn't go to see the elephants as the bus could not drive down the track. Then a 30 minute drive back to the freeway. An hour wasted for 5 minutes viewing the lions which we could not see as we were on the right hand side of the bus. We then went to Phezulu in the thousand hills region. Upon arrival, we had the chance to have lunch or do one of the optional activities. You could take in a tribal Zulu show, visit the reptile park or take the safari all of which you pay for which it is made clear in the tour description. We opted for the safari (£12 each) and credited cards, Rand or US$ were accepted. The safari was excellent, an hours drive through the hills. On route, there were giraffes 🦒, kudus, warthog and zebras. All in all, a great day just a shame about the lions and elephants at Netal.
Has a great day being taken by our fantastic guide Benson around the Reserve and Lion Park who could not have been more informative or eager to make our day the best day out possible .. which it was!!
First of all: The three parks are worth a visit, but otherwise, it was the worst trip we've ever had. We were picked up from the ship and put in an old, very worn bus. We sat there for an hour (!) without any further explanation. Then we were supposed to change to another bus, but there was no guide. The driver then went to get gas! The guests were confused because some had booked two parks, while others had booked three. After an hour, we arrived at the first park. There we met our assigned guide, who, however, offered virtually no explanation even when asked. A real shame!
This is absolutely not true. Firstly, the ship was 2 hours to arrive, purely not our fault. Of-boarding from the ship took long due to delayed ship arrival. Transportation to the parks was done in a very good condition bus. If the parks are great, how does this person only give a 1 star rating. Clearly this person had his own personal problems and was not out to enjoy the tour.
Hands off.. ✋️ that's nothing... it's done with stuff that doesn't exist...The biggest crap there is...
Tala is ok if you gave not taken a proper safari in one if the big national parks. It gives you an idea of what it is but without the big 5. You can see giraffes, zebras, ostriches, hippos, wildebeasts, rinos in quite a reduced space and close to Durban. No need for long drives. The Lion Park is a clear no-go place. A zoo with sad animals in cages. I got very despressed to see them in such condition. So 4-star for the Tala and zero for Lion Park. Average: 2 star However if you have been to Kruger, Hluhlue or the like, no need to invest time on Tala.
This is probably the only person who has not enjoyed their experience in Tala Game Reserve, certainly the most popular destination from Durban. Also, the animals in Natal Lion Park are living naturally.
Great experience! Joseph was amazing. Picked us up from a location chosen by us. We had enough time for a breakfast, lunch and browsing the shops between the safari tours.
It was a great day, we had a fantastic guide Joseph who took us to all three parks. The Tala Game Reserve is truly stunning, we saw hippos, giraffes, gnus, and a lot of other animals. The natal lion park was somewhat more like a zoo, as was the reptiles area in the Phezulu. Nevertheless, it was worth the experience. Only "minus" point was, that we had booked a private trip, but were clubbed together with two other passengers. That was not bad, but not exactly as we had booked. Still we would do it again! Special thanks again to Joseph!
Beautiful!! A lovely day with animals!😃🦛🦓🐗!!!!!!! Very attentive people!!!! Good service!! Our sugestión is to have more elephants!👍
Our drivers were so cheerful and knowledgeable, and helped us all to feel comfortable for the whole trip. They were both very careful drivers and helped us to feel safe. The first stop was the lion park, and the weather had been wet so the road was rutty and puddly, but the drivers, Kimba and Xolani, were very careful to make the drive around as safe as possible. We saw lions close by, and interacting together which was thrilling! The elephants were so friendly and it was great to get close to them. Tala reserve was amazing! Kimba helped us to get the best seats on the safari bus, and our tour guide and driver, Milton, made the trip around the reserve so entertaining. Not only that, with his witty remarks, but he was very knowledgeable about the animals and where to find them. When we saw a tower of giraffes in the distance, he managed to bring us right by them. There were many species to see, all in their natural habitat, and it was wonderful to see zebras, various deer, wildebeest and rhino all grazing in close proximity to each other peacefully. We humans could learn a lot from them! Phezulu was a lovely place to visit, the dancing presentation was fantastic and so entertaining in spite of the rain that came in the afternoon. The food there was delicious and more than adequate portions. The reptiles were fascinating too! We would definitely recommend the tour led by Africa Sun Safaris to anyone wanting a great sightseeing experience, knowing we were so well looked after and kept safe all day, to enjoy all the activities. On the way home one of the cars broke down and our two drivers worked so well together to keep us safe, and deliver us back to our accommodation as quickly as possible. All in all it was a fantastic day’s experience and a trip of a lifetime!
We are happy that you enjoyed the tour. Thank you for the positive feedback
