Igor was a great tour guide - he was very welcoming to everyone and made it easier for those of us who don’t speak spanish
Very interesting visit to La Rioja and a local winery. Also visited another village, La Guardia, and Vitoria-Gasteiz. Tour guide was helpful and provided good information, drive was interesting and so were the places visited. A good day tour from Bilbao.
We were extremely excited about this tour! The day before, less than 24 hours before the tour we noticed we would not arrive back to the ship before it departed. The tour took place 40 minutes away from the cruise port. I called the tour operator and they suggested we show up to see if the tour could end early. We showed up and the tour operator said sorry we could not alter the tour and there were no refunds. I called them again and they were insistent that there were NO refunds. I suggested a compromise to receive a 50% refund and they again said no and were quite rude. Viator was absolutely NO help. DO NOT CHOOSE THIS TOUR!
Dear Client We received your first contact just 1 hour before the departure of the tour. We informed you that the tour is a regular one with specific departure and return times and that we could shorten the duration of the tour, as you requested, because there were other clients as well into the tour. Then you requested a 50% refund and we informed you that this was not possible to apply in this case and then you started to threaten us with negative comments in social media and a bad rating at the review if we did not comply to your request. And here we are now. Sorry, but as we explained you before, we are just following the booking terms that you agreed and we will not accept any unjustified threats. It is a pity that we have to deal with this situation without any help from Viator/Tripadvisor when it comes to threats and bullying from the clients.
Other than the misspelling of Vitoria-Gasteiz in this listing, this one day small group tour (7 visitors) was excellent. The tour guide, Borja, was fantastically informed and interesting. He knows history and linguistics. Both of these are of great interest to me, e.g the Basque language, and the histories of Spain and Basque country and culture. This information enriched the area we were driving through beginning with the Ice Age! When we visited churches in the small medieval city, we learned about who the churches were named after and why and the kinds of architectural details and eras. Borja also gave us suggestions about restaurants when we had a lunch break after the wine tour. I highly recommend this tour. Not too long and not too short: just right.
Paula was a great tour guide. We really enjoyed Laguardia and the beautiful scenery. We found a reasonable lunch at a nice little restaurant touted as Irish, but not exclusively Irish food. The wine tasting was for two different red wines and did not include any food whatsoever, not even small crackers, which made the wine tasting a bit harder as it can be helpful to pair red wine with a savory item. We paid 2.50 euro for a third tasting. There was no free time at our second stop, Vitoria-Gasreiz, but our tour guide gave us a walking tour. Bring your own bottle of water and comfortable shoes for comfort.
Genial.!!!. Highly recommended the activity, and especially if you go with Borja, the guide, professional, very documented, friendly, very friendly, responsive to talk and clarify doubts for his knowledge. The activity very enjoyable, with touches of humor without losing the seriousness of the story. La Guardia, beautiful....tour with surprises of Borja.
We had a wonderful day with tour guide Borja! We visited Laguardia, a beautiful little town inthe heart of Basque country and the Basque capital Victoria-Gasteix. The tour included a short stop at a Winery. Borja was very knowledgeable and passionate about Basque/Spanish history and culture
Relaxing way to spend the day, comfortable bus ride - everything was as described, excellent tour guide.
A very pleasant and informative adventure inland from Bilbao. Paula was our guide - multilingual and very well informed on geography, history and local tradition. She was friendly, helpful and easy company. There were 8 in our group. We left Bilbao 09.30 and were returned at about 18.00, having driven to the hilltop fortress town of La Guardia where we visited a traditional family bodega and learned about the making of Rioja wine and had time to ourselves to explore, before driving on to Vittoria Gasteiz which was also a picturesque town of historic interest. Worthwhile trip.
This an absolutely wonderful day. Our guides were so knowledgeable about the region, especially about the history and basque culture. It was so great to learn about the wine but Paola shared lots of additional information that gave us a much better understanding of the wine country’s history—absolutely invaluable! The drive was scenic, informative, and well laid out with rest moments too.
