Excursion aventure en kayak dans la Bio Bay de Porto Rico

Description

The tour guides were very friendly I really enjoyed the jokes they made we were unfortunately not able to see the bio water that well but it was still fun to kayak especially since the tour guides were so friendly and welcoming it was interesting to see the mangrove trees but one thing I would recommend is a water proof phone case and water shoes
Honestly, I DON’T recommend this tour from our experience but I still gave it 4 stars because the company was very up front about the not so ideal conditions of the bioluminescent bay. Basically, they gave us a choice to cancel the morning of but one of my kids still wanted to do it. The 3 tour guides and the staff were all very informative, patient and professional. They deserve 10 stars. The experience alone is just not enjoyable. We booked the 8pm tour and it was pretty dark. It’s hard to see while you kayak and it’s easy to run into the mangroves. It was a lot of effort and work to kayak the 1.5 miles in and out especially with the waves and currents making the kayak portion unemployable. Besides the stars being beautiful, you barely see any of the bioluminescent in the water due to conditions and light pollution. I also think that Fajardo is not the best place for viewing from what I heard. The guides helped us get under the tarp to see better but you had to swirl your hand in the water to see “something” but it was barely anything. Just some yellowish white tint around your hand. Definitely save your money unless you just like kayaking on the dark and seeing nothing. Not the best tour for kids too.
Very good experience. My daughter I went on it together. She had never rowed before but the orientation the head guide gave was very helpful and a good review for anyone that hasn't rowed in a long time, like me. It can be a bit of an arm workout, so be ready for that. We went on the 6:45 tour and were glad we got to see the mangrove canal while rowing through it on the way to the lagoon before it got too dark. There was a lot of light pollution from houses in Fajardo but the guides adjusted for this by bringing the kayaks together and spreading a tarp. The bioluminescence wasn't as bright as I'd hoped, but it was still interesting to see. The guides were informative and fun. The lagoon is beautiful and the kayaking bit was fun too. Good times.
Have been out here 2 previous times. Should have known something was up when we arrived and were told to lower our expectations "because it wasn't like what people see online". We have been to this exact lagoon two times prior and knew when we didn't see the bio on the journey back to the lagoon it was bad. Couldn't see it out in the open at all. If they told us this up front we wouldn't have booked. Felt like they are still trying to keep the bookings up regardless of what you see. Not at all like our previous trips here. They blamed it on new construction lights and seaweed.
I had a really good experience with Yokahu. They offered a refund and/or another trip option due to poor or no bioluminescence the previous night. I decided to take the earlier trip knowing we wouldn't see bio part and it was still a good experience. Guides were informative and enjoyable. All in all, a solid experience.
The kayak experience was a ton of fun and special. We got to kayak thru tunnels of mangroves to reach a lagoon. The sky was not fully dark due to clouds and light pollution so we used a tarp to see the microorganism light up. The highlight was the kayaking and being out in nature. Would definitely recommend it however make sure you are in good shape and able to row for a while.
Really fun, great guides who will help you when you get stuck and stay with you if you are slow. It is an arm workout though!
Even with a downpour it was so much fun. Such a beautiful area and the guides were friendly, funny and knowledgeable.
We really liked our 6:45 time slot because we saw the sunset and more of the mangrove lagoon while it was still light. Unfortunately the bioluminescence was minimal but we were able to see it with the tarp and nature is unpredictable. Our guides were informative and humorous
Guides were knowledgeable and fun, and the trip was very well organized. We had a great time and even saw a little of the bioluminescence!
