My boarding pass said 3 adults but when they scanned it only came up as one so the 2 friends were not allowed to board The ferry we were to go on refused to help as we went through Viator third party to make the booking By the time I sorted it out with Viator the ferry had departed This is the first time I ever had an issue booking through Viator my recommendation is make sure you have a boarding pass for each person in your party
City Cruises does a good job...the ferry is clean and comfortable and takes just 90 minutes from Boston's Long Wharf to Provincetown. There are restrooms and snacks available onboard and the staff is friendly and efficient. I hosted a group on the same weekend as the Boston Tall Ships Parade, and I found the staff very accommodating...it was a busy time for anyone in the business, and employees of City Cruises really came through. Outstanding service. We'll be back. Enjoy!
This company should have known there was no ferry that ran from Boston to Provincetown on Monday, July 13, 2026 at 11:30 AM. We need a full refund (actually more since we stood in the sun for 45 minutes only to find out we needed to Uber to a second destination at Seaport for a ferry that did run at 1 PM Boston to Provincetown.). A full refund, please!
Our experience (booking through Viator) for a day trip from Boston to Provincetown was an extremely disappointing one. On Tuesday, June 9, we arrived for what was supposed to be a confirmed 11:30am ferry departure, only to discover that no such departure time even existed. Despite having a valid confirmation on our tickets and email notifications, we were informed by an agent at the check-in counter that the information provided to us was incorrect. He said the ferry had already left at 9am that day. What was most frustrating was not only the error itself, but the complete lack of accountability shown in handling the situation. We received no apology, no acknowledgment of the inconvenience caused, and no meaningful effort to address the disruption to our travel plans. As a direct result of this mistake, we incurred additional expenses by extending our hotel stay specifically for this ferry trip. We also lost valuable vacation time dealing with the confusion and uncertainty created by the incorrect booking information. It was the day of our wedding anniversary and obviously our intended day of celebrations and happy memories were ruined. We called Viator customer service but the service that was rendered to us were unsatisfactory. While we eventually received refunds for the ferry tickets and the unused Provincetown tour, the financial reimbursement does not excuse the poor customer service and unprofessional manner in which the situation was handled. A mistake of this magnitude should never occur, especially when customers rely on confirmed booking information to plan their travel. The lack of communication, responsibility, and customer care was unacceptable. I sincerely hope no other travelers have to experience the same level of frustration and disappointment.

Given the considerable inconvenience, unexpected costs, wasted vacation time, and the absence of any acknowledgment of responsibility, some form of compensation and a formal apology would be more than justified. Incidents like this make it difficult not to feel that we are living in an increasingly sad, hopeless, and pathetic world where accountability has become the exception rather than the rule.
I had always wanted to see Provincetown and this high-speed ferry from Boston was just the ticket. Travel time is about 90 minutes each way. Cost was about $90 per person. I thought that was awesome for 3 hours at sea with the price of fuel these days. I just wanted to spend the day, and this was a delightful way to accomplish that. There was a guide on board that could answer my questions on what to do here. The boat was clean and had restrooms and a snack and beverage bar. Boarding was easy. I had an electronic ticket. It does get busy so you might want to book ahead rather than just walking up and purchasing at the dock, I walked from my hotel, and it was really convenient to get to the ferry. Enjoy!
Great!! Easy and comfortable! Great way to travel over to Cape Cod Loved it! The ride was beautiful!!
We had travelled from Scotland to stay in Boston and this was one of the highlights of our 8 day stay! Donal was a friendly, knowledgeable character who clearly hasn’t lost his Irish charm after living in Boston for 40 years! He gave us recommendations of where to eat and what to do for our stay in P’town which was only for a few short hours! He was also really interested in our feedback too on our return to Boston so he can improve the service for future travellers. We saw the sunset over Boston city skyline when we came back. Thank you Donal, what an asset you are to the company!
Great trip, outstanding crew, they gave great advice. The concierge is wonderful. Can’t say enough good things about the trip- both ways!
The boat ride was fine. Make sure you get fresh air here and there because I felt a bit nauseated half hour into the ride even though I didn’t eat breakfast and I was sitting inside. Once there, take the trolley tour, rent a bike, check out the art galleries.
