This was a fabulous tour! Milan, our guide, took us through a local food market selling fresh produce, fish, and meats as well as prepared, ready to eat foods. He explained the history and current system of vendors markets in Paris. He took us to several different vendors where we tried samples and chose sausages, pates, cheeses, and fruits. We stopped at a bakery for baguettes. We walked to a private picnic area where he served wine as we ate the delicious food and had a delightful conversation. One of the best things we did in Paris.
As soon as I spotted Milan's picnic basket, I knew we were going to have a great time! This special tour blends delicious food, an authentic Parisian market visit, French history, and personal conversation into one fantastic experience. We started with a relaxed walk through a market, stopping at stalls to talk, taste, and buy. By the end, Milan had collected a beautiful assortment of cheeses, fruits, pate and baguettes for a wonderful feast that he expertly prepared for us on a blanket in a nearby park. Of course, a bottle of red wine made an appearance! Milan has an extensive knowledge of history which he communicated in a way that was very relevant and accessible. When he learned that we were from Boston with its own revolutionary history, he altered our tour in order to take us to a private church where Lafayette was buried. The location was magical and so unique. I highly recommend a tour with Milan. He is a treasure!
Thank you so much Donna for sharing your experience with me! I am thrilled to hear that you and Doug had a great time during your Parisian market tour and picnic enriched with some French and American history. The finest cheeses, fruits, pate, a good wine to delight everyone's taste buds, and great company. What else could we expect that day :-) I hope to see you again on one of my tours in the future! Warm regards and Happy Holidays!
The Paris markets are a cornucopia of wonderful sights, smells and tastes, and Milan knows where each and every one of them is on which day of the week. Our market stroll and picnic was such a delight. It was so refreshing to do something non-touristy. The vendors kept offering us tastes of their goods, and it seemed like Milan knew all of them! Our picnic setting was idyllic and, of course, the cheese was magnifique! Along the way, Milan shared some of his extensive knowledge of the French Revolution and pointed out sights relating to that period in French history. This was our second day with Milan, and we would do more. Pick any of his tours. You won't regret it.
Great family experience! The guide was friendly, knowledgeable and entertaining. I felt like a local while shopping at the market.
The market, the smells and the experience of seeing fresh, stunning produce from fruits to meats to cheeses was amazing. Milan provided interesting trivia and information about the markets and the source of each and everything we got. The trip to a boulangerie for fresh baguette and eclairs was super fun! The picnic spot was very quaint, especially the lovely chickens who accompanied us on the walk!
Milan was awesome as our tour guide! It was such an enjoyable experience for me and my daughter! Something unique activity if ever you are in Paris. Interact with locals, eat good cheese and pates and meet friends! We loved it!
The picnic with Milan was so fun! We started our tour with Milan at the Place de la Bastille and he provided a wealth of historical facts about the area and the French Revolution - it was fascinating! We then walked to a nearby local French Market and chose various treats for our picnic. It was so fun to wander through the market and be among the locals while choosing bread, cheese, meats, fruits and wine - the sights and smells were wonderful! We then walked to Place des Vosges and had a lovely picnic in this historic Paris Square. On top of all this fun, Milan was kind enough to guide us to a Metro Station at the end of the tour and helped us purchase tickets. Merci Beaucoup, MIlan! We strongly recommend Milan for any tour of Paris - you will be delighted!
What a great experience our family had on our Food Market shopping trip and Picnic with Milan. We met local food sellers at the market who Milan knows so well. Milan showed us a wonderful side of Paris life we never would have experienced! Chatting and trying so many different foods that were offered by many of the friendly vendors. Then deciding what we wanted for our picnic was just so much more fun than you would expect it to be. We learned some real interesting history on the French revolution that happened right by the market and then he brought us to a very unique place for our picnic. We thoroughly enjoyed it and will definitely do it again when we come back to Paris. I do ALOT of research before I bring my family on vacation and I'm certain you will enjoy this tour!
It is often hard to keep the attention of teens and pre-teens. The day in the market in Paris did that. Milan encouraged the kids to interact with the vendors in French. They enjoyed trying different cheese and fruits. We all had a great time! Thanks Milan!
Milan was a wonderful guide and taught us so much about France and the historical highlights of the great city of Paris. We loved experiencing the informal and friendly atmosphere of the Parisian market. Milan was a great conversationalist and the food was DELICIOUS!! It was really interesting seeing Paris from the local perspective—Highly recommend this tour!
