To me it was a bit underwhelming and a tad boring and I found the staff a bit condescending and one older guy in particular quite grumpy laying down a heap of rules about kids behaving and not going ahead of parents which is ok but just the way he conveyed the message. The grandkids enjoyed it but it was not really for me .I have seen much better light shows at other venues and $ 45 is top dollar for what it is. The food was reasonable price but not that great quality but again the kids enjoyed it
Hi there, Thank you for sharing your feedback, and we're so glad the grandkids enjoyed their evening. We're sorry the experience didn't meet your expectations. Our team does ask that children stay with their parents during the event for everyone's safety, but we appreciate you letting us know how the message came across, and we'll make sure it's delivered by all team members with more warmth in future. Thank you again for visiting, and we hope the grandkids have some lovely memories of the night. Kind regards, The Currumbin Sanctuary Team
The different stations had light shows of around 4 minutes long. The night sounds and music along the path added to the experience. Nice way to spend our last night at the Gold Coast.
Really beautiful lighting in a picturesque setting , very friendly staff and the Christmas atmosphere was great. Highly recommend this evening excursion for friends , families or couples . We left feeling very zen :)
Really enjoyed this. Lightshow was outstanding with a variety of effects and sounds. Not a challenging track to walk or navigate and staff are there to help. Music, atmosphere, and setting all complement eachother perfectly if you're looking for a relaxing romantic evening in a beautiful illuminated forest. You're given plenty of time to get through, and can stop on the way with plenty of seating to take it all in. Definitely one to revisit in future. Absolutely recommend!
We attended Astra Lumina on 10 July and were sadly left disappointed. We booked early session tickets so our young son could enjoy the lights before bedtime, but after long delays for food and drinks, he fell asleep and missed the event entirely. Despite the venue not being busy, we waited 35 minutes for hot chips and 15 minutes for a half-filled mulled wine—even though we were second in line. The food service was disorganised, slow, and the staff seemed disengaged and unmotivated. The light display itself was underwhelming and lacked the magic and atmosphere we had hoped for. At $45 per ticket, it felt overpriced for what was delivered. We were genuinely looking forward to this event, but it didn’t live up to expectations. I hope future events offer a more enjoyable and better-managed experience. I wrote an email to the company but sadly never got a reply. I followed up with a phone call but still never heard back. Management service is just as bad as the staff service.
Too expensive for what it was. Only suitable for kids under 5. $10 to buy a hot chocolate. Complete rip-off
Excellent attraction a short drive from the Gold Coast. We went in July and the kids really enjoyed it. Spent about 60 minutes there but could easily have spent more time. Some of the installations were absolutely outstanding - the last one (Stardust Rays) was especially amazing! We just stood there in awe. The staff were really nice and helpful as well. Highly recommended for everyone (families, couples, solo)
Most fascinating and beautiful night tour. Something exciting around every corner. Loved every minute.
The lights were beautiful and it was a fun night, but I did NOT expect such long winding, STEEP paths during the event. I noticed several families with kids, and then prams/strollers struggling uphill on uneven rough terrain. My only other complaint was that there was not clear signage or workers to tell you that the Astra Lumina walk starts at the back of the 'eating' start staging area - so I went down the exit and had to double back (as did many folks) and it was frustrating and very annoying. Why on earth you would put an entry way right at the back of a location full to the brim with people waiting for food/drinks at various locations (meaning you cannot see it clearly - nor get through the crowd to get there anyway!!!) is beyond me - and yet have an exit path marked looking like an entry point right at the front - and wonder why people are getting confused. It really knocked down my enjoyment overall, and I personally wouldn't recommend it if you have little kids or mobility issues.
Absolutely amazing, i loved it, i would definitely go again. Take your whole fsmily they will all enjoy this experience.
