The town is very quiet. This was our tour guides first tour…..she was very nice and friendly but not yet fully trained for this role. She needed to explain more, project her voice and wait for the group to come together before beginning to offer comments about a particular site she was narrating.
Our guide, Nuria was excellent. Lots of uphill climbing, but kind of knew that. She was challenged as it was raining, I am 80, and our ship didn’t change to Vigo time so we had some start up issues. But she handled everything extremely well and delivered an excellent and informative tour. Been nicer to find a public bathroom along the way.
This was a great way to see Vigo and learn some history. Finding the tour guide was easy—they sent a meeting location and gave identifying info for the tour guide. The tour was very informative and gave us a great overview of Vigo. Note that Vigo’s terrain is very hilly, so while the walking length isn’t long, my mother (who is in her 70s) struggled with some of the hills (although there are escalators in the city in some of the steepest spots). All around, a great tour.
Our tour guide, Maria, was superb. We were her first tour that was all in English, and she did an amazing job. She really knows her Vigo history and the best places for great views of the city. We climbed to the top of the fortress which was a little strenuous but we made it and it was worth it. As a point of reference, we're in our 60s, and NOT fitness buffs! We always like to get tours of our destinations as you really get such a good feel for the local flavor along with the touristy highlights. Maria provided both in a most delightful way.
It was a private tour. 2 people. While the guide was pleasant, we were force fed historical data over two hours without really seeing anything much. Not a lot of walking. A lot of using a book with old photo copies of things that weren’t even there anymore. When asked questions, she really did not answer them, instead choosing to stick to her script. I do not recommend.
Hi!! I am not going to bother in answering. You obviously did not do the tour with us. Thank you.
We had an interesting walk learned some history and a little about the area saw important sights our guide was helpful and we learned a lot very good tour
The guide was very friendly and knowlegable as was very helpful with us having a 2 year old and having to stop for toilet breaks
Besides the beauty of the city, excellent works of streetart! Good experience at the Occidental Vigo hotel, with excellent conditions and very attentive staff.
Whilst on a Christmas & New Year cruise we stopped at Vigo for a walking tour. What an interesting place Vigo was, especially with all its Christmas street decorations. To enjoy the trip make sure you visit the old town with its interesting architecture and quaint alleyways. Be prepared for the steep streets in some parts of town, beautiful parks and fabulous views of the harbor and surrounding bay areas. Just a shame we wasn’t there when it got dark as I suspect it was an amazing experience. We’ll definitely be going back as there was so much more to see.
Silvia explained the history of the city in detail and showed me important sites. She was very thorough and enthusiastic. It was enjoyable even in the rain.
