Voyage privé au monastère de Bachkovo et à la forteresse d'Assen
Description
De Plovdiv, nous nous dirigeons vers les montagnes des Rhodopes en passant par la jolie ville d'Assenovgrad. À proximité, nous verrons les vestiges remarquables de la forteresse du roi Ivan Assen, un sage dirigeant du deuxième royaume bulgare. Nous y trouvons une ancienne église datant du 13ème siècle peinte avec des pièces iconographiques authentiques ainsi que l'inscription en pierre sculptée par le roi Ivan Assen. Nous nous enfoncerons ensuite plus profondément dans les montagnes des Rhodopes en direction du pittoresque monastère de Bachkovo. Le cloître est le deuxième plus grand de Bulgarie, fondé en 1083 et l'un des lieux les plus sacrés de l'histoire bulgare. Nous pouvons nous arrêter en chemin si vous le souhaitez. Si vous êtes le seul à réserver ce jour-là, la visite est faite pour vous. Veuillez noter que le nombre maximum de personnes pouvant participer est de 6.

À l'intérieur du monastère, nous visiterons l'église principale de la Vierge Marie, construite en 1604, où est conservée une précieuse icône de la Vierge Marie datant de 1310. Selon la légende, cette icône remarquable ferait des merveilles. Attachée à l'église de la Vierge Marie, nous verrons l'église des Archanges datant du XIIe siècle. Le réfectoire du monastère est un autre joyau du complexe qui a conservé des peintures murales colorées de 1643. Avec la fresque de la fin du monde, nous verrons les images de certains saints moines, d'anciens philosophes et écrivains comme Socrate, Aristote, Diogène et bien d'autres. La fresque panoramique sur le mur extérieur du réfectoire représente une vue plongeante du monastère et de tous les bâtiments environnants au moment du tableau – 1846.
À proximité, nous verrons les vestiges remarquables de la forteresse du roi Ivan Assen, un sage dirigeant du deuxième royaume bulgare. L'entrée est de 4 lv pour les adultes et de 2 lv pour les enfants.

It was a nice drive out of Plovdiv to visit an historic monastery and ruins of a fortress. The drive & sightseeing can be done in 2 to 3 hours max.
Great guild and a great time. The views were so beautiful and we had plenty of time to see it all. Definitely recommend!
Great trip - lovely sites, really beautiful. The monastery reminded me of Rila but more intimate. The fortress is steep but if you’re fit you’ll enjoy the church and surroundings. Lovely frescos and icons

Me and my husband spent some wonderful hours of the day visiting Bachkovo Monastery and Asen's Fortress. The monastery felt so peaceful and full of history - I could've stayed there for hours. When we arrived at Asen's Fortress we admired the stunning views. Definitely make your way to the top — the stairs only look scary, but they’re really not that bad! Just a short drive om Plovdiv, but it felt like a different world. Our driver made the trip even more fascinating with his stories. It's totally worth it!

Our guide was nice and polite but didn’t explain much about the fortress and church that we visited. We wish we would have learned some of the history of these amazing spots.
