Retrouvez le guide à 10 h 30 et visitez la basilique dédiée à sainte Claire. La basilique (Basilica di Santa Chiara en Italien) est une église dédiée à sainte Claire d'Assise, disciple de saint François d'Assise et fondatrice de l'Ordre des Dames Pauvres, connu aujourd'hui sous le nom d'Ordre de sainte Claire, et qui abrite ses restes.
Chiesa Nuova. La Chiesa Nuova est une église située à Assise, en Italie, construite en 1615 à l'emplacement de ce qui serait le lieu de naissance de saint François, la maison de Pietro di Bernardone. Elle s'appelait alors « Chiesa Nuova » car c'était la dernière église construite à Assise à cette époque.
Le temple de Minerve est un édifice romain antique situé à Assise, en Ombrie, dans le centre de l'Italie. Il abrite aujourd'hui une église, Santa Maria sopra Minerva, construite en 1539 et rénovée dans le style baroque au XVIIe siècle.
Inscrite au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO, la basilique Saint-François a été construite sous la direction de frère Élie, vicaire général et architecte de l'ordre, à partir de 1228, soit deux ans seulement après la mort du saint, afin d'accueillir sa dépouille.
Si la basilique inférieure, solennelle et sombre, invite à la pénitence et au silence, l'église supérieure s'élève vers le ciel, aérée et lumineuse. De style gothique aux influences françaises, la nef comporte quatre travées, des voûtes d'arêtes, ainsi qu'un transept et une abside polygonaux.

- En raison de l'exposition des reliques de saint François, les visites guidées de la basilique seront suspendues du 15 février 2026 au 6 avril 2026. Le guide donnera des explications depuis l'extérieur, puis les visiteurs pourront entrer par leurs propres moyens.

We had a fabulous morning in Assisi with Alessandra. She is a great story teller, very knowledgeable and great sense of humor. I really enjoyed how she explained the history of Assisi and San Francesco de Assisi with a very down to earth twist that I had not experience in tours were religion is involved. We toured the entire town and we visited several sites, including the basilica of Santa Clara, the Minerva church, piazza, nice streets and naturally the upper and lower basilica of San Francesco. It was perfectly timed for high enjoyment and learning. It gave us an interesting perspective that you could relate to today's characters and events.
Barbara was extraordinarily knowledgeable. She educated us well on Assisi’s history, the life of St. Francis, and the fine details of the artwork in the basilica and the criticality of Giotto’s innovations to future artistic developments in the Renaissance. No surprise since she was a teacher in her prior life. A great guide!!

It starts from the top of town at the church of St Clare. Very interesting. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared his personal insights. We took the quiet road behind the town to the Basilica and it was a delight.

Personalized tour of this beautiful city. Even though we were there during a holiday and tour guides were not allowed into the churches, our guide went through detailed instructions of what to look for and how to go through each church.

The guide was very knowledgeable about the history of the church, the region and St. Francis. She spoke good English and was quite understandable even when speaking quietly inside the churches.. The pace was easy and covered a lot of ground.

Tour is a private tour which takes you through the history of Assisi, the Poor Claires, St. Francis and the Basilica of St. Francis. Guide was knowledgeable and quite opinionated, but treated the physical sites with dignity and respect. Tour does not include the resting place Carlo Acutis.
