Omar was a great tour guide. We got so much more than we bargain for. First of all this was not a 4 hour tour, it was more like 6.5 hours. It required a lot of walking so people with handicap and disabilities should not take this tour. It did include lunch at the end, which was a nice bonus. Be forewarned that private does not mean you alone with a driver in a private car. We were on a very nice air conditioned bus with about 25 other people. It was great for us, but other people were complaining about that. Highly suggest this for people doing a day trip off of a cruise. You got to see everything and experience Tangier in a great way. Thanks, Omar.
Thank you so much! I'm really happy you enjoyed the tour and your time in Tangier. I truly appreciate your kind words and recommendation.
First of all, we booked a private tour. There were 38 people on our private tour. They did not give clear instructions on where to meet. Our tour was supposed to start at 9:30. We weren't able to find our bus for 50 minutes. It took 3 calls to the operator who provided no help, abd we walked iver a mile trying to find our bus. Once on-board we sat and waited an additional 15 minutes for another lost party. So our tour started an hour late. It was incredibly stressful and frustrating. Other tours had drivers right outside the boat with signs. The operator said to look for Omar. I guess I was supposed to walk up and down the cruise terminal and along the docked boats yelling out Omar. I was extremely excited to visit the market. I just wanted an hour to roam freely and explore the market. They took us to one shop where they expected us to shop for an extended time. That's where we abandoned this so called tour and took a cabb back to our cruise ship. This particular tour felt like a scam from beginning to end.
This 4-hour private tour was the perfect way to discover Tangier. Our guide was friendly, knowledgeable, and made the experience feel very personal. We visited Cap Spartel, Hercules Cave, enjoyed a camel ride on the beach, and explored the beautiful Medina. Every stop was well organized, and we never felt rushed. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Tangier!

Our driver Ahmed was fantastic (but didn’t speak any English however did great with Google Translate) the guide did not show up for the fist 2 hours. When he finally did the guide Badro was pushy and rushed us then when we wanted a snack he dropped us a restaurant that charged us $70 for a snack then in front of us gave him $10 for bringing us there. I’ve been traveling around the world for 40 years and Badro was hands down the worst tour guide I’ve ever had.
The tour is broken into two segments. The first is a driving tour covering the most significant parts of Tangier. This part includes the fabulous camel ride, beautiful scenic views, and a visit to the Caves of Hercules. The tour was marvelous as was my guide, Mohammed. The second part of the excursion consisted of a visit to the Kasbah. Part 2 was disappointing. Our guide led us to a carpet sales studio and a spice shop where we were expected to listen to various sales pitches for items we had no interest in buying. Unless you are in the market for these specific items, this part of the tour was a waste of time. I left the tour at this point and continued to explore the Kasbah on my own finding a wonderful local restaurant for lunch. Sorry to say that the experience was less than satisfactory. The administrative details and tour organization left much to be desired. The start times kept changing, several stops on the tour were eliminated, and payment arrangements for the Caves of Hercules were mishandled. There is considerable opportunity for much improvement in this area. There are many tour operators to choose from while on vacation. I would recommend that Viator give careful consideration to upping their game.
How this tour gets 5 stars is a mystery. The pickup was extremely late, the tour did not provide everything that was supposedly included in the description, and there was a ridiculous hard sell on buying a carpet involved, but the guides were friendly and the lunch spot was amazing. The pickup process was the worst part. I had booked a 9 AM tour to be picked up at my cruise ship. At 8 AM, I got a text saying the tour would pick up at 10 AM. The text communications before 10 said they would pick up by the ship, but then at 10, we stopped getting responses to texts. 10:30 comes and no pickup. Then at 10:45, they texted that I had to meet at a mosque outside the port entrance. I had taxi drivers haggling with me to take me on the tour for an extra charge and no communication from the guy texting me. I contacted the operator through trip advisor and he called me and set me up with another guide, who was very nice. He took us on a walking tour of the Casbah and Medina and took us to a nice restaurant for a wonderful lunch. The museum and mosque was closed. There was no synagogue on our tour. Then the chaos started again. We were taken to a carpet shop where we were shown some absolutely gorgeous carpets, but the hard sell on buying one was insane. The guy followed me out of the shop down the alley to convince me to buy one, but no was my answer. The guide had left and needed to be tracked down, but once he came back he was able to get the carpet salesman to stop. Then we went to a bar to wait for the van to take us sightseeing. After about 20 minutes another guide showed up and told us the first guide had left for the day. The van driver was great, pointing out the palaces and other points of interest along the way. We had 10 min in the plaza area if Cap Spartel so no time to actually go to the lighthouse. And then he dropped us off at the Caves of Hercules which was so crowded we could only see the entrance. It would have been an hours-long wait to get in. The driver was nice, but he wasn't giving us any tours of them. As for the camel ride, we drove by some camels, but we're never offered a ride on one, so that didn't happen either. In summary, the pickup was chaotic and late, the tour didn't go to half the stuff in the description, and I spent way too much time fending off pushy salesmen. The lunch was great and the guides were great when they were there. Maybe I just caught them on a bad day.
Omar was a great tour guide and gave us all the information! Bus was air conditioned, the spice shop had a great selection, and loved lunch!

This tour has a very high rating however we found it quite disorganized. I'll start with mentioning I travel a ton and am used to really nice tours from this site. This was not one. The other solo traveler was told 10:30 meeting time and was not aware of the last-minute change to 9 AM that was communicated 12 hours before the tour. Despite being listed, the following items were not actually included: - water/juice/coffee - admission/visit to the synagogue - admission/visit to Hercules museum - they initially wanted us to pay for admission to the Hercules cave but paid when we pointed out the discrepancy The driving portion of the tour was good, though we were dropped off at sites quickly with little history or info provided. For example, at the Hercules caves, we were dropped and told "the caves are on the left". Zero info and we had to walk back up to figure out payment as it was supposed to be included. The walking portion was a borderline scam. We were brought for a high-pressure sales pitch at: the carpet/rug store, spice store and finally a touristy restaurant. We left the tour at this point and found our own way. Super disappointed and not sure how this tour has a 4.9 star rating. I reached out and requested a refund which I have never had to do before with a Viator tour.
Waited one and a half hours for our tour guide who didn't show up called Viator 3 times they couldn't contact private vendor and neither could I. They didn't offer me anything for my wait and told me I my not get my money back 😤 very disappointed!!!! Would not advise anyone to trust them. Ruined my whole trip....
We had a very knowledgeable and experienced guide named Hassan. He was very professional and gave us a lot of very good historical, social, religious, and civic history about the area. Our driver Mohammed was very professional and respectful. We were picked up in a very nice, clean, climate controlled van at the airport at the cruise terminal. He was prompt and customized the tour for our needs. I highly recommend him. We really saw all the highlights that we wanted to see and enjoyed the camel ride.
