Dans un labyrinthe de rues, ruelles et petites places, vous aurez l'occasion de découvrir l'art et l'histoire de Monopoli et d'entrer en contact avec les traditions de cette fascinante ville des Pouilles, surplombant la mer Adriatique. C'est le circuit idéal pour ceux qui souhaitent découvrir l'animation d'une ville balnéaire enrichie d'un intéressant patrimoine historique et artistique, en compagnie d'un guide local, né et élevé à Monopoli. Une agréable surprise vous attend à la fin de la visite : la dégustation d'une tranche de focaccia de Bari ou d'un panzerotto.

La visite commence à Largo Plebiscito, aux portes de la vieille ville, nous marchons le long de la Via Garibaldi, jusqu'à ce que nous atteignions la Piazza Garibaldi, une place chargée d'histoire. Arrêt au château de Charles Quint, situé dans l'une des plus anciennes parties de la vieille ville. En se promenant le long de la promenade, on peut admirer les imposants bastions et la vue panoramique de la Vieille Porte avec ses murs fortifiés du XVIe siècle. Nous visiterons la basilique Maria SS. della Madia avec son intérieur somptueux, à laquelle est liée la légende de l'icône de la Madonna della Madia. Nous passerons par quelques ruelles caractéristiques pour arriver sur la Piazza Vittorio Emanuele II, le cœur battant de la nouvelle ville. La valeur ajoutée de cette visite sera le guide du Monopoly ! À la fin de la visite, une tranche de focaccia de Bari ou un panzerotto frit ou cuit au four seront proposés à la dégustation. (note : la dégustation n'est pas incluse pour les non payeurs) La visite est privée, mais tout changement doit être convenu à l'avance avec le guide.

Valerie was perfectly able to explain the city, its history and all the important areas with examples of each historical aspect in an entertaining and relaxed way. We had so many questions and she was able to explain each issue clearly. The time spent learning with Valerie flew quickly. This was our first visit to Monopoli, Italy and Valerie was a wonderful hostess for our visit!

I had a wonderful experience on my Monopoli solo tour with Valeria. She has an extensive understanding of the history of Monopoli and Puglia. She is able to relate this to the architecture and economy through the years. I walked away with a deeper appreciation of the area and a few noteworthy stories to tell about the city. This was one of if not the best tours I have ever taken and the best value ever! Valerie was an excellent guide and had a wealth of knowledge not only about the old city but of Italian history. Her English was terrific and easy to understand and she easily understood what we were saying. My maternal grandparents came to the United States from Monopoli in 1905 and I was very excited to take this tour. It was worth every penny. I would recommend this tour to anyone interested in the history of the area.

This was the second private tour we did with Valeria - even more special because Monopoli is her hometown and she shared her memories of growing up there. We were so impressed with her knowledge of the city and region that we arranged to have a third tour with her in Alberobello. She's personable, knowledgeable, and charming! We had a wonderful walking tour of the historic center of Monopoli with Valeria. She was welcoming, friendly, engaging, and very knowledgeable about the history of the town from ancient times to the present day. She was able to point out details and share anecdotes that we never would have uncovered on our own. We have another day to explore the town and it will be more interesting for us now that we can view things with the historical and cultural framework that Valeria provided. She topped off our very enjoyable time together with a visit to her favorite bakery....one that we will certainly revisit. We highly recommend Valeria's tour walking through the old town of Monopoli.

We had an amazing private guided walking tour with Valeria in Monopoli. She grew up here, so her knowledge of the city and all the changes over time really brought the history to life. She shared so many fun and interesting facts that we never would have noticed on our own. The tour ended with a delicious surprise treat of fresh focaccia bread, which was the perfect way to finish. Valeria even pointed out details about the beautifully renovated church right in front of where we were staying, with our VRBO tucked into it and overlooking the sea. A wonderful experience that made Monopoli even more special!
