Volubilis est le vestige d'une ville romaine construite sur l'ancien emplacement d'une cité punique-berbère, qui fut la capitale du royaume de Maurétanie, située dans la plaine du Saïss, au nord du Maroc, au bord de l'oued Rhoumane, une rivière dans la banlieue de Meknès. C'est l'un des sites du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.
Moulay Driss Zerhoun Elle est célèbre pour être le site du tombeau d'Idris Ier, le premier grand souverain islamique du Maroc, qui a donné son nom à la ville.
Meknès est une ville du nord du Maroc. Elle est connue pour son passé impérial, avec des vestiges comme Bab Mansour, une immense porte avec des arcs et des mosaïques. La porte mène à la vieille ville impériale. Le mausolée du sultan Moulay Ismail, qui fit de la ville sa capitale au XVIIe siècle, possède des cours et des fontaines. Prenez votre temps pour prendre un bon déjeuner.

Despite some periodic heavy rain, this was a great trip. Badr was an excellent driver who made sure that I understood the ins and outs of visiting the Volubilis ruins, the village of Moulay Idriss, and the city of Meknes. Badr was well-versed in English, and an engaging conversationalist. The highlights of the trip for me were the vast and picturesque ruins of Volubilis, and the gorgeous mausoleum of Moulay Isma’il in Meknes. A thoroughly interesting and enjoyable excursion.
