We could not have had a more positive experience than with our guide, Winfried. He is a wonderful, warm, affable and highly knowledgable man who has lived a wide and varied life and thus has so much to offer. We had such a great time and learned so much about Berlin. As a long time resident, he was able to weave in his first hand accounts that made it all come to life in such a pleasant and personal manner. It also was wonderful to ride on public busses & trains with him, it not only helped us get around rapidly but demonstrated how easily we could later navigate it ourselves.
Wonderful, we are so glad you enjoyed your tour! Thank you for taking the time to write. Happy travels!
I booked two tours with A friend in Berlin: they were amazing. I took the Berlin walking tour and I discovered both sides of Berlin: the historic with the wall memorial and the modern city...I went also to Hamburg that is a lovely city...
Hi David, thank you so much for doing two tours with us and giving us such a great review! We are so happy that you enjoyed Berlin, and Hamburg as well! All the best to you!
Sven was a great guide. I recommend this walking tour. He came prepared with the knowledge and facts. We had an enjoyable time.

Loved every minute. Thomas educated us beyond anything we would have read about. Articulate, incredibly personable, and just fun to listen to. Would recommend him every time!
What a nice review, thank you so much! We are very happy that you enjoyed your tour! All the best! Jo
Tomas, our guide brought the stories that surrounded us to life. He took us through the unforgiving history of Berlin with intelligence and sensitivity. Tomas is a gifted storyteller that also took care of us as we experienced Berlin for the first time. I highly recommend seeing Berlin through his eyes.
We are so happy that you enjoyed your tour. Thanks for writing!!
Thomas was the most captivating, enthusiastic and knowledgeable tour guide we’ve ever had in Europe. He customized our tour to focus on the German history that my son was interested in—rather than generic book information. He really brought German history to life. It’s the first tour that my son was disappointed when it ended!
What a nice review, thank you so much! I'll let Thomas know and all the best to you and your son! Jo
Definitely book in advance. At the beginning of your trip you will have a nice overview of the city. Audio guide taking and Dutch is possible. Both entrance and audio guide are free.
Thank you for your review!
I had another company set up two private tours in Berlin. They chose A Friend in Berlin and my guide was Josh. I'm a bit remiss in posting a review. I had the tours in mid-September and then got carried away by the rest of my trip. But I enjoyed the tours so much I wanted to make sure that I gave them a five-star rating. Josh was knowledgeable, interesting and interested in my questions and what I wanted to see. The first tour was a Highlights of Berlin scheduled for the day after my arrival. I really felt that I got an excellent baseline of the city, its history and its culture. The second tour piggybacked on the first with a bit more emphasis on WWII. I would highly recommend A Friend in Berlin.
Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review. We are very pleased that you had a good time with Josh. Come back to Berlin and we'll show you even more! All the best to you! Jo
Our guide was informative and patient. We learnt so much about the history of Berlin especially WWII and the wall
Thank you for taking the time to review us! We are always happy when our clients are happy.
