Food tours are a great introduction to the culture of a country you’re visiting and the Porto 8 tastings was no exception! Our guide, Jose was fabulous and was very knowledgeable about the history, society and politics of the area and provided some great insights along with touch of humour. ( he was also very patient with as we were prone to wandering) Tastings included fish, meet, cheese, sweets and drinks. Hint… come hungry!

The Porto eight tastings food tour (by Secret Food Tours) provides a great sampling of Portuguese food specialties … tarts, fish, meat cheese, wine and of course port! Most of our stops were at long established family operations. Our guide, Jose was excellent and very knowledgeable about the history, culture and social aspects of Portugal. He provided good insights into the Porto community along with some humorous antidotes. Hint: come hungry!

I had my food tour with Nuno and was the only person that day. He was friendly and personable that I did not feel too shy. All the tastings were a great introduction to Porto (and Portugal). Nuno was knowledgable on his city + food and even provided a Google Maps link with a ton of recommendations (which was greatly appreciated and I already it shared with a friend.) The tour was well paced and I would have never noticed some of the places we stopped at on my own. I book with Secret food Tours any time I’m visiting a new city and I have never had a bad experience. I always recommend them.

Our guide, Nuno, was excellent and really helped to create a unique experience walking the city of Porto and tasting the local cuisines and understanding history! The tour is the perfectly length and is a bargain for all the items you get to try. Recommend doing the tour early in your visit to the city so that you get the feel and can revisit some favorites if you like!
