Travelling with parents in their 80s. Couldn’t keep up with the fast pace of the walk so we dropped off and took it at our own pace. Also we asked for a toilet break but we had to walk a long way (past 1 toilet - told not to use it) before we had the first toilet break after getting off the coach trip.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We're sorry to hear the pace of the tour wasn't the right fit for your group. While most guests find the walking pace moderate, we understand that everyone's comfort and mobility levels are different, and guests are always welcome to explore at their own pace if they prefer. We also appreciate your comments regarding the restroom stop. Thank you for traveling with us.
The bus ride/driver, Roman, was amazing. Our tour guide with City Wonders was amazing. Our experience at the restaurant, Vesuvio, was absolutely horrible. They made us wait so long before even acknowledging us, that we were close to missing our bus take off. Then on top of that, they didn’t include a salad and didn’t give us a choice between pizza and spaghetti—they just started bringing pizzas. The tables that got there just before us all had nice salads and their choice of pizza or spaghetti, then dessert. And on top of it—they tried to overcharge us and had such a rude, disrespectful attitude on top of it. It felt dirty, rushed, and overall disrespectful.
After approx 3 hour bus trip from Rome we were met by our guide, Elena, who walked us around many of the highlights of Pompeii, pointing out many interesting features that you may otherwise miss if exploring alone. We had about an hour free after the tour to explore a little further if we liked before returning to Rome. It’s a good way to visit Pompeii if you have limited time.
The trip was very well organised. Our bus driver, Romel, provided interesting information during the drive to Pompeii. The tour of the ruins in Pompeii was also very well organised with a very knowledgeable guide who took us to highlights given the short time we had to see the ruins.
My cousin, my mother, and I went on the extended Pompeii tour from Rome which was awesome!! Roberto, our tour guide, was the best we’ve ever had and we learned so much. He is also very patient because there was this British woman who kept interrupting him mid speech/explanation to ask about where we were going (which he already explained), if she could get his person number in case she needed anything (very inappropriate), and if the bus would wait for her because she wanted more time (there were 30 other people waiting to journey back to Rome after an amazing, yet tiring, day at Pompeii). Basically, this review is about how awesome Roberto the tour guide is. (He also likes Pink Floyd which I love too)
We are on the bus now heading back to Rome (luckily). We were left behind halfway through the tour by the guide, who was moving very quickly and apparently stopped doing head counts. We searched in the heat and crowds but could not find her. Fortunately, helpful guides from other tours helped us find the exit from the site and our bus meeting spot. It was an incredibly stressful and disappointing experience.
Hi there, We’re very sorry to hear about your experience and the stress this caused during your tour. This is certainly not the level of service we aim to provide, and guest safety and communication are always a priority for our guides. We would appreciate the opportunity to look into this further and follow up directly with the guide and local team involved. Please contact us directly with your booking details so we can investigate the situation thoroughly and assist you further. We’re glad to hear you were ultimately able to reconnect with the group and return safely to Rome, and we truly appreciate you bringing this matter to our attention.
