Allons-y! Après la prise en charge à votre hôtel à 8h00, nous prendrons un agréable trajet d'une heure et demie en voiture jusqu'au marché central de Ba Ria. En chemin, nous nous arrêterons pour nous dégourdir les jambes et récupérer votre guide local pour la région de Long Tan - Nui Dat. Votre guide vous donnera une introduction à la région et à l'histoire de Ba Ria. Ensuite, nous nous dirigerons vers les tunnels de Phuoc Long, un système de tunnels de 1,4 km où notre guide racontera des histoires fascinantes qui illustrent la vie du Viet Cong en temps de guerre. Il vous expliquera également comment pousse la noix de cajou. Le Vietnam est le plus grand producteur et exportateur de noix de cajou au monde !
Remontez dans le temps à Nui Dat et à l'aérodrome de Luscombe Ensuite, nous arriverons à Nui Dat, ou SAS Hill, l'ancienne base de l'armée australienne. Notre guide éclairera l'histoire importante de cette région, en montrant des photos afin qu'il vous soit facile de vous souvenir ou d'imaginer cette période dans le temps. Ensuite, nous nous dirigerons vers l'aérodrome de Luscombe, qui a été préservé dans un petit village. Notre guide vous racontera les histoires associées à ce site important. Ici, nous aurons également la chance de visiter le jardin d'enfants construit par des vétérans australiens.
Absorber l'histoire de la bataille de Long Tan Nous continuerons vers la Long Tan Cross, la partie la plus émouvante de la tournée. Avec des fleurs et de l'encens, nous effectuerons une cérémonie rituelle pour montrer notre respect pour les personnes décédées en ce lieu. Après cela, nous verrons Horseshoe Hill depuis la rue principale car la zone elle-même est protégée en raison des bombes et des mines terrestres qui restent encore enfouies.
Admirez les sites touristiques de la ville de Vung Tau En quittant Nui Dat, nous nous dirigerons vers la ville balnéaire de Vung Tau où nous dégusterons un délicieux déjeuner avec vue sur la mer. Ensuite, nous visiterons les sites incontournables de Vung Tau, y compris une montée au sommet du phare où nous pourrons voir toute la ville et la mer de l'Est. En redescendant, nous visiterons le dernier palais blanc du roi Bao Dai. L'aventure n'est pas encore terminée ! Avant de retourner à Ho Chi Minh-Ville, nous aurons l'occasion de prendre une photo avec la célèbre statue de Jésus au sommet de la colline. Nous reviendrons à HCMV vers 17h00 et vous déposerons à votre hôtel ou à n'importe quel endroit où vous souhaitez aller à HCMV. We booked the Nui Dat, Long Tan and Vung Tau private tour with Maika Tours and it ended up being one of the highlights of our time in Vietnam. Our guide, Chris, and driver, Minh, were both excellent. Chris took the time to ask what had motivated us to book this particular tour. My husband served in the NZ Army, although he was too young to have served in Vietnam, and once Chris learned that he was able to tailor parts of the discussion to our interests. His knowledge was incredible, particularly around the Australian and New Zealand involvement in Vietnam. It was clear he had a genuine passion for the history and a deep understanding of the events and people involved. The visit to Long Tan Cross was especially moving. Chris handled this part of the tour with genuine respect and sensitivity. He gave us the information we needed and then left us some quiet time to reflect, which we really appreciated. The whole day was extremely well organised. Minh was a fantastic driver, the SUV was comfortable, and we felt completely safe throughout the journey. Lunch was also excellent. Chris was knowledgeable, considerate, humorous and easy to spend a full day with. We learned so much and came away with a much deeper understanding of the history of the area. I would thoroughly recommend this tour and Maika Tours in general. Five stars from us.
We were blessed to have Huang as our tour guide as she comes with 28 years of experience specialising in war history and history of Vietnam - she is a walking encyclopedia. We personalised the tour and retraced a family members time when he was sent here to Vietnam in 1970 - we got to see where he was based - we got to see the area he was ambushed in - we got to see where his camp was - plus we went to Long Tan and paid our respects at the memorial - finishing off with a gourmet lunch - the whole experience was seamless and we go home with even more understanding and respect for war veterans on both sides We highly recommend Maika Tours
Our experience was excellent. This was a tour to visit my father’s posting during the war. Huong was great, she and our driver managed all the logistics perfectly. She was very knowledgeable about the area and made it a very special day for us.
I cannot recommend this tour highly enough for Australians visiting Vietnam. From the ease of booking the tour direct with Maika Tours to the knowledge and experience of Huong it was an amazing day. Throw in a great driver, a fantastic seafood lunch and sightseeing in Vung Tau you could not wish for a better day.

We had the most amazing day with Nam. Being able to do a dawn service on ANZAC day at Long Tan was one of the highlights of our trip. Nam's knowledge about Nui Dat was excellent. When we told him my Uncle had served in Vietnam, Nam was able to identify where in Nui Dat he was and take us to those places. This was definitely a life changing experience and I highly recommend doing this with Nam. Also a special mention needs to go to our driver Lady Hong for getting us there safely and in comfort
We had an incredible one-day private tour with Huong visiting the Long Tan Cross, Nui Dat base, and Horseshoe Hill. Huong was exceptionally detailed, informed, and brought history to life using photos and over 30 years of knowledge. Knowing she personally cleans the Long Tan memorial site every month shows her immense respect and dedication to the site. She was funny, personable, and made the whole day feel tailored just for us. After the history tour, she took us to Vung Tau, which we absolutely fell in love with. The seafood lunch she chose was right on the water and truly amazing. We ended the day with spectacular views from the lighthouse, some sight seeing, and a comfortable ride home. Thank you, Hoang, for your time, knowledge, and for making our trip so memorable!
