The museum was wonderful. My 11 year old granddaughter loved the ice cave and ride down into a volcano. I loved it to.
I wish I had started my trip here as it might have helped us decide what to see. We saw a lot of what the museum covered but it would have given us better background knowledge. We did this tour our last day, right before leaving. The museum is beautiful and well-run.
Excellent museum located 10 mins bus ride from central Reykjavik. There were 2 short films about the northern lights and volcanos. Also an excellent 3D ride to the magma chamber in the centre of a volcano. Also an amazing walk through ice cave made with real ice - it was cold! Several other interactive exhibitions also of good quality. We had lunch in the revolving restaurant under the dome with amazing views. There was also an open deck area around the gift store with 360 views of Reykjavik. We spent 4 hours in total. Would highly recommended.
Dear Desiree, Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We’re delighted that you enjoyed discovering Iceland's wonders through our immersive exhibitions. Our museum is designed to bring Icelandic nature to life—whether it’s feeling the power of a volcanic eruption, exploring the mysteries of glaciers, or experiencing the magic of the Northern Lights. It’s fantastic to see you enjoyed the views! The rotating restaurant gives you a fresh perspective every time, offering an experience unlike any other. Hope to see you again at Perlan! Kind regards, Iva
Fantastic in every way! Great place to learn and enjoy! We recommend you go earlier before it gets very crowded
This is a must visit in Reykjavik, Icelandic wonders in one place. See the Arơra planetarium show ( best way to see the Northern Lights in summer), the Ice Cave, the Volcano Show, and go to the 360 café (360 views of the city). Informative and fun!
The volcano presentation was truly awesome. Very informative, interesting, and brilliantly done! Worth spending precious time at Perlan.
Great over view of natural (fire and ice) history with amazing pictures and immersive experience. The best was going down into a volcano just before it erupts, and then bursting out with the eruption. It was nice to do at the end of our trip to put the places we went to in context. Would also be good before hand to prep for a trip.
Dear Janet, We appreciate you sharing your experience with us. Our museum is a beautiful place to explore Icelandic wonders, learn and understand why these natural wonders came to exist, before or after heading out for adventures outside the city. Glad you enjoyed the Volcano exhibit—it's a powerful way to experience what’s happening deep beneath the earth as volcanic forces begin to move and build pressure. Hope to welcome you back to Perlan. Best regards, Iva
One word..Fabulous! We spent 5 hrs here, the walk from the city centre was easy, you don't need to have transport. On admission, the staff were friendly and helpful, explaining about the exhibits and giving us stickers showing the time of our first "experience," the Volcano experience. If you struggle with dizziness, I'd suggest choosing a stool at the back, for this one! Its a large dome with a glass floor, you sit on backless stools. You experience going down into a volcano, then shooting out as it erupts..the stools do vibrate a little. There's also the ice cave,( take the padded cape on offer, it is certainly cold) also, my favourite, the Northern Lights experience. This is another dome containing reclining cinema seats, ( very comfortable.) You see the most beautiful Aurora film and listen to a fascinating commentary which is a very good mix of facts and legend. There are toilets on the 4th floor, along with a restaurant and coffee shop. It is eye wateringly expensive ( equivalent of £37.42 for 1 coffee, 1 tea and 2 peices of cake) but this is Iceland. The restaurant itself, rotates, very slowly, so you get a changing view of the vista. It can be a little disorientating though, if you don't know, when you notice the coffee counter is closer to you, 🤣 On the level below the restaurant is a gift shop and outside viewing platform. All in all, lots to see, plenty to read, very informative and a perfect day out for all age groups. Would 100% recommend a visit
