Visiting the Olfactory gave more than making custom perfumes , it was a journey into 100yrs of visionary mastery, business experience and legacy rooted in community. I left the Olfactory inspired to build a good legacy . Our tour guide Michele was outstanding and hospitable. Our all English speaking group named one of the perfumes ‘Justin Bieber’ 😆. I recommend this as a must do if you find yourself on the Riviera.
We were based in Nice so decided to do the Fragonard Perfume making and factory tour in Grasse. There were ABSOLUTELY NO helpful instructions on how to get to the Fragonard factory in Grasse on the booking sheet. We took the train which was easy and direct to Grasse and ran every 15 -20 minutes from Nice via Cannes and Antibes and took about 90 minutes. When we arrived in Grasse railway station we had no information on taking public transport to Fragonard. BEWARE: If you decide to WALK to the factory it is about 30 minutes slog - up hill mainly - from the train station. We decided to catch a bus, but without any helpful instructions on which number we ended up taking the wrong bus. After allowing over an hour, we arrived at the factory just in time for the tour. The tour was very quick through a small area of the factory and all paths lead to the gift shop of course where there was a hard sell. We did get to make some perfume but we did not have a choice of ''notes'' to use. There were only 3 bottles - a top note, heart note and base note and we mixed how we wanted with those and couldn't choose anything. I was expecting a whole lot more bottles to choose from. I was disappointed. The staff in the shop were snooty and clearly didn't like tourists or even seem to want to be there. My advice is to stay in Nice and go to the Fragonard shop in Nice, or to Molinard in Nice which seems to have a better choice of perfumes to make on their tour.
Dear, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are sorry to learn that your experience did not meet your expectations. We regret any confusion regarding directions to our Grasse factory. The location is indicated in the booking confirmation, but your comments are valuable and will help us improve the information provided to our visitors. Our guided tour is designed to introduce visitors to the history and traditional craftsmanship of perfume making before concluding in our boutique, where visitors are free to browse our creations with no obligation to purchase. Regarding the workshop, it is intended as an introduction to perfume composition through the olfactory pyramid. Participants personalize their own 12 ml Eau de Toilette using three carefully balanced accords representing the top, heart and base notes. This has always been the concept of this experience. We also regret that the welcome you received in our boutique did not meet your expectations. Providing attentive and friendly service is a priority for our teams. Your feedback is important to us, and we invite you to contact us at reviews@fragonard.com should you wish to discuss your experience further. Warm regards, The Fragonard Team
Knowledgeable and charming guide, enjoyable experience. Yes, there is a shop at the end but no particular pressure to buy.
You can, but you don't have to.
Great experience, lovely team
A good mix of theory and practice (smelling scents and making your own). However the making of the cologne water is rushed. And at end the visit s about selling fraginard perfumes
Very nice activity, highly recommended. Very good guide and fun to make your own perfume.
This is a nice experience. The tour is short and comprehensive, leaving one understanding why Grasse is the perfume capital and seeing how this company produces its products. It is capped by a perfume making process. While a nice take home, the scents are chosen for the class - the participants assemble the amounts of each offered ingredient. At the end of the tour, the guide explains all the products available and offered various samples of the finished perfumes. It is a sales pitch however the perfume is quite nice and a very reasonable price.
Having read other opinions I hoped the person in charge of the class could explain some things in Spanish, but it wasn’t and I missed a lot of content. Then we went straight to the store like sheep to the slaughterhouse, but always accompanied by a big smile.
I had the pleasure of visiting the Fragonard factory in Grasse with a group of friends and the experience was really exciting. Our guide, Carina, demonstrated extraordinary competence, explaining every detail with impeccable professionalism and a touch of sympathy that made the visit even more enjoyable. I highly recommend anyone passing by Grasse to stop here: it is an experience that really deserves.
