This was much more than a food tour. We got to see and hear about many different buildings and aspects of Penang’s architectural growth and historical significance. Our guide, Poh, was very happy, welcoming, and extremely knowledgeable about Penang’s history and local culture. The food we tried was very local, and I especially enjoyed the white coffee.

We visited Penang three years ago with friends and did this tour with James. It was so good, we booked to do it with different friends for this trip. We just so happened to get James again. He was so brilliant both times. He was funny, informative and engaging. The food was brilliant and James’ friendly manner made the tour so interesting.
Thank you so much, Kate, for joining us again and for your wonderful review. We’re delighted you chose to return to the tour and especially happy you had James as your guide both times. He’ll be thrilled by your kind words. We hope to welcome you and other friends back again soon. Have a nice day, cheers!
I would strongly recommend this to for anyone looking to expand their knowledge of the amazing foods available here in Penang. This is awesome way of getting out of your comfort zone and enjoying the fabulous food available here . Our guide Poh was thoroughly entertaining, a wonderful hostess in Georgetown, but not only shared with us some of the best food but also very interesting stories. The cultureat Leif here in Penang island. Do yourself a favor and enjoy this food community as I and my tour mates did. I assure you a good time was had by all
Thank you, Leif, for your wonderful recommendation! We’re delighted you stepped out of your comfort zone and discovered Penang’s amazing flavours with Poh. She’ll be thrilled to hear your kind words. It’s fantastic you enjoyed the food, stories, and culture in George Town. Hope to welcome more of your friends and relatives to Penang soon. Cheers!
For many reasons this tour exceeded my expectations :) Would it be helpful to say that the numerous dishes are spaced out with a walk between each venue and one or two were air conditioned premises so very welcome on one of the hottest afternoons! it felt leisurely and calm, we were a small group and Max was very generous with his time, providing forks and napkins etc and choosing most carefully the ingredients so we didn't receive anything that us westerners might not relish! apart from experiencing so many different flavours, including delicious drinks to suit the hot climate, we covered a great deal of the Chinatown area and saw many fascinating heritage houses with Max explaining about the architecture, history etc Really fascinating trip and thoroughly recommend.
Thank you, Hilary, for your wonderful review! We’re delighted the tour exceeded your expectations. The relaxed pace, shaded stops, and carefully chosen dishes are all designed to keep guests comfortable while exploring Chinatown’s flavours and heritage. Max will be thrilled to hear your kind words. We truly appreciate your recommendation and have a nice day. Cheers!
We enjoy the afternoon. Ut was a good combination of food and learning. As it was our first food tour. We were a little nervous about what to expect. But we enjoy the walking and eating, as it broke up the day. It was a really hot afternoon, so Max enjoyed we stayed hydrated with local drinks , which we would never know to order! Which made it even more enjoyable. It was also good that we told him we don’t eat beef, so he was able to work around this and it wasn’t an issue
Thank you Bhavisha for your lovely review! We’re delighted you enjoyed your first food tour with Max. It’s great to hear the mix of food, culture, and local drinks made the hot afternoon enjoyable. We’re also glad Max could accommodate your dietary preferences. Hope to see your friends and relatives from UK in Penang! Have a nice day. Cheers!
James was an excellent guide. Informative, funny and knowledgeable. Do not eat anything beforehand as there is so much food to try. The guide can make these tours good or average. James is excellent and you will enjoy your time with him.
Thank you, Ivan, for your kind words. We’re delighted James made your food tour memorable with his knowledge, humor, and passion. We agree that coming hungry is essential! Your feedback means a lot, and we’ll be sure to share your praise with James. We hope to welcome you again soon. Have a nice day ahead, cheers!
We had a fantastic time on this food tour, James was a fantastic guide and we had the chance to try so much food at vendors we would not have been able to find by ourselves. James was very knowledgable about the food and the city and gave us lots of information and recommendations.
Thank you, Selina, for your lovely review. James is delighted you had a fantastic time on the food tour and discovered vendors you wouldn’t find alone. Sharing local flavors, stories, and recommendations is James' passion. He truly appreciates your kind words and hopes to welcome you again on your next visit. Cheers!
