Great views

Well worth a visit. Fast, clean carriages whisk you to the top station effortlessly and quietly. Wife was using walking stick due to broken leg and was helped onto carriage without requesting. 1 and a half hour wait for next train so paid for priority boarding.( Double the normal fare and well worth it.) No waiting going up and about 15 minutes wait coming down. Fabulous views with easy walking to different view spots. Food and drinks available and limited seating.

Great experience

The experience was great. I highly recommend the fast track lane. You just go the counter and give them the paper with the printed barcode. It’s difficult to pull up on phone due to the slow internet.

Beautiful experience but very touristy

Penang Hill is definitely worth a visit, although you have to take into account the crowds. We had a queue of about 45 minutes. We had taken a priority ticket (double the normal price) and were therefore able to skip the long line. It was definitely worth it for us. There are several activities to do at the summit, but all of these cost extra money separately. The buggy ride of about 10 minutes was fun, especially thanks to the driver of buggy number 08. He did this with such enthusiasm and a big smile that he made the experience extra fun. We also had lunch in the restaurant on top. The food was fine, but also there we found the prices a bit on the high side. We also thought the Treetop Walk was worthwhile, although we found the prices of some activities quite sturdy. All in all a nice experience, but keep in mind crowds and extra costs.

A bit of freshness.

We took the funicular to reach the top of the hill where we finally had a bit of freshness. The hill offers a wide panorama of the city of Georgetown and the island of Penang. At the top, there is food available and a chance to enjoy the view. The ascent is made by a steep train that is quite impressive. But it’s great!

A must when in Penang

Penang Hill is at an altitude of about 800 m. On top of the hill the temperature is agreable making the walk quite comfortable. The funicular tickets can be bought at the ticket counter, cost 21 MYR per pax. This is the longest funicular in Asia and it takes about 15 minutes to reach the top. It ascends almost vertically at the start before turning abruptly to the right. The views are spectular. Once on top,one can wander around taking in the views. After passing a few shops you reach The Habitat. A natural reserve (UNESCO) with an impressive rich flora and fauna. Walking the canopy walk was great,we were very lucky to see a giant squirrel on a tree searching for fruits and several leaf monkeys. Also on top you can find a nice little restaurant attached to the gift shop,a mosque and a Hindu temple . A great experience.

Go fast lane!

I paid for the fast lane online and so glad I did! It saved a lot of waiting, and also managed the best seat on the ride up and down the hill! There was no one on the fast lane on the way up, and only a couple of us on the way down...the regular queue was like waiting to check in at the airport!

Worth a visit in Penang

It costs 40 RM for non Malaysians to go up and down the funicular (with several mid way stops). There are small garden grounds up on top the hill. We didn't pay to go to the Habitat. There is a restaurant on the hill. The price is a bit steep, considering Malaysians pay only 6 RM, but it is what it is. It must also cost quite a bit to operate this thing - it goes so fast your ears would pop. The funicular could have some cleaner windows. It was not terribly crowded, but we went at 7:15 am. The hill is covered with fog and clouds on some days, so check the weather
