Very extensive and interesting tour. Garrick explained and showed us a lot. We would do this tour again immediately.
We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Timothy. He was flexible knowledgeable and we had fun plus the food was great. We ate at places we would never eat at by ourselves. Highly recommended.
Very nice experience to taste different things. The guide will take the time to explain the city as well as give information about the city and its history.
Plenty of food, lovely walk through the heritage centre, our guide was knowledgeable and generous with her information. Highly recommend.
When we booked this tour we received a text shortly after explaining that some of the places would be closed on that day and therefore we could reschedule for another day, which we did. We were then asked to attend another event on the same day whose date couldn't be changed and requested another reschedule to the only other day we had left. Unfortunately they were fully booked. However, they went above and beyond and found another tour guide to accomate us. We met up with Ashline and she showed us through the streets of Penang. She was very informative and we ate some very delicious foods. She showed us not only the foods but lots of local history and arts. I would highly recommend this tour, it was worth every penny.
It was fantastic to experience the culinary cultures in Penang. It took us to places we would never have tried ourselves. Garrick with his local knowledge was an excellent host.
We had a great food & heritage tour with Ashline, our friendly, knowledgeable and enthusiatic guide. Through her, we learned about the history of the different cultures that have shaped Penang, and tried a variety of cuisines (Nyonya, Indian, Chinese, Malay). Recommend that you come hungry to do full justice to all the delicious food and drink tastings! As we walked between the different stops, Ashline showed us many examples of George Town's street art (some harder to spot than others!) and happily acted as photographer She also explained more about local traditions and architecture of buildings and temples, which gave us a new appreciation of our surroundings. Ashline was super organised and thoughtful, providing us with bottles of water to keep hydrated and setting a walking pace that suited the group and producing. Chatting with other travellers on the tour, we all agreed that we now had more confidence to check out more street food independently having been on the tour. This was so much more than a food tour - we're so glad that we did this right at the start of our holiday in Penang, as it was a fantastic introduction to the food, culture and history. Highly recommended!
Tham was our guide and she was very good! Attentive, kind and fun. We tried a great variety of food in different places - chinese, muslim indian and nyonya dishes. A few desserts and typical drinks too, while learning about the history behind them 🇲🇾
We had an epic afternoon/evening with Garrick! He was so sincere and passionate with his way of explaining the cuisine culture of George Town, so generous with his knowledge. We visited restaurants and street stalls which we definitely wouldn't have found without him. Stunning flavours !! We also ended up spending extra time talking about life and getting to know each other further which you usually don't get on tours. Thank you so much Garrick 😊 😊
We had an excellent food (and history) tour of Old Town Penang thanks to our friendly, knowledgeable guide, Ashline. Food tours are so good at getting you to try those snacks or dishes you're too scared to order yourself, or that you didn't even know existed! We enjoyed sampling flavours and styles of Nyonya, Indian, Chinese, and Malay dishes. Ashline walked and talked us through the eclectic mix of communities, cultures, and religions living alongside one another in George Town. Make sure you come hungry, because there is a lot of food to get through!
