This was a great experience. Everyone of the crew were so friendly, helpful and fun. They took us to 2 snorkeling spots. We snorkeled about 1.5 hours in the morning and then an hour in the afternoon. Both spots were great. In between they served a very good buffet lunch. After the 2nd snorkeling session they gave a presentation about the reef. Very informative. Also on the way back they spotted some whales and slowed so that everyone on the boat could see them. Top notch tour!
Great day on the reef. The crew were friendly and knowledgable. Food was great too. I highly recommend!
I cannot begin to explain in words how amazing this crew was. Marco was the best dive master I have ever had! Shout out to Andie, Joss, Parker, and JT for being so awesome! Truly such a wonderful day. Incredible diving incredible food, I love it all.
Beautiful day! Great crew! Amazing gourmet meal! Rosie was a fabulous guide. Reef & lots of colorful fish! Thanks!!
We had a fabulous time. The crew was wonderful. You are able to snorkel before and after lunch so you may want to bring two towels. The lunch was fresh with six different salads.
This was an excellent adventure. The crew was amazing, especially Corinda, who is very responsive to all the guests needs. I would highly recommend this trip out to the great barrier reef. Best day I spent in all of Australia.
Passions of Paradise was good but not great, there is definitely room for improvement. The tour was good enough such that I did not feel ripped off and did not complain to the tour operator while on the tour, but I would not recommend this operator. For the various reasons outlined below, I would recommend Seastar, another operator out of Cairns that I had a more enjoyable time with. Passions of paradise felt like a huge commercial megatour with +95 people on board. With so many people on board with varying swim levels, they justifiably made us stick very close to the boat during snorkeling. While I understand this is due to safety since they have a hard time tracking +95 people, it doesn't lead to the best snorkel experience. In contrast, another Great Barrier Reef tour I went on operated by Seastar had 40-20 people and a much better snorkel experience. Passions of paradise stopped at 2 different portions of Hastings Reef. The 1st portion was not that good and was honestly a bit disappointing. It didn't have that wow factor that the Great Barrier Reef should have. I talked to others on board and was not the only one disappointed. Luckily, the 2nd portion of Hastings Reef was vibrant and had good coral and fish; however, the 1st stop felt like a waste of time. I would have preferred using the snorkel time at the 2nd stop. There was a lack of communication regarding how long we were snorkeling at the 2 different snorkel stops. Before the 1st stop, I heard a crew member announce we were going to be there for 2hrs but we were only in the water for 1hr before they called us back to the boat. Then before the 2nd stop, I again heard a crew member announce we were going to be there for 2hrs but again we were only in the water for 1hr before they called us back to the boat. Others in the water were also confused as they were wondering why we were already being called back onboard. So we only got 2 hours of snorkeling total. Initially, the crew announced we would get back to port after 5pm, but we got back at ~4:45pm, so where did the additional time go? Did they just cut off our snorkel time preemptively? When I went with Seastar for their Great Barrier Reef tour, I got 3 hours of snorkeling total, a whole 50% increase. Their website advertises afternoon tea which they do technically provide, but the served it ~40mins after our last snorkel stop and only ~20mins out from Cairns, the end of the tour. I would have preferred a hot drink and snacks right after I got done with the final snorkel spot. By the time they served the tea, we were pretty much already back in port and everyone had already gotten sea sick. I honestly feel like they delay serving the tea and biscuits so that people are forced to purchase alcohol and snacks at their bar. Disappointing. On my other tour with Seastar, they served fresh fruit and tea right after our last snorkel stop and before departing to return to port. I also personally felt like this company participated in "green washing", the deceptive practice of making a product, service, or company appear more environmentally friendly than it actually is. However, I am not a marine biologist so take this layman's opinion with a grain of salt. I will say this tour had some benefits over the smaller, more personal Seastar tour that I took, albeit not many. Due to the boat being a lot larger, it had a better food due to the larger kitchen (galley) and better toilets (head).
Thoroughly enjoyable experience. Great knowledge from the staff. Extremely supportive of all skills levels. Simon was extremely supportive and so was the young lady the supported the no buddy or limited experience swimmers (blondish hair), sorry I have forgotten your name). The snacks, food and drink available was amazing and very filling. Thank you for a great reef experience.
What an incredible team! The food, vibes, knowledge, and service were outstanding! It was my our first time diving and the instructors helped us easily learn the ropes and ease our nerves! They have a phenomenal underwater photographer and the pictures are SO WORTH IT!! There are two diving spots and the tour only includes one. The second one is $60 additional so keep that in mind. There is unlimited snorkeling at both sites! Definitely do your research on what conditions won’t allow for a safe dive!
An amazing experience for our family. From check in you are so well looked after, as soon as we boarded we were referred to by our family name and shown to a reserved seating space on the boat- this was great as it meant we were sitting together and had a space for our belongings all day. My son (12yo) and I signed up for the introductory scuba when we boarded and I felt so well looked after and safe. Our daughters (10,7yo) loved their snorkel experiences. The food was delicious and plentiful and we also really loved that the boat was big enough but not too big! I can't rate the staff on board highly enough- they really made the trip. Thank you! If you are looking to book a reef experience don't hesistate booking with Passions.
