Beat the driver/ guide tourist trap !!

I've been here before and it is beautiful. This time though was different as heavy rain made the river and the falls run like chocolate! Still amazing but very muddy so don't wear white ( or any nice clothes or trainers) as you'll be covered in a spray of mud from the falls. Also no boat rides ,and you won't see any monkeys if it rains! When you book just book the mini bus there DON'T BOOK the lunch or the guided tour. Get the lunch there. Ask how much the lunch is at the restaurants at the top of the falls before you buy, and you'll get it cheaper! The guide jumps on the bus when you arrive and driver of the bus will try and persuade you that you need a guide even if you haven't booked one. YOU DON'T it's a scam !! ( It's just a walk up and down the canyon and back, just follow other groups to get there as there are loads of tours) Driver became aggressive when I said I didn't need one and asked me what my problem was ( knowing full well all the other passengers were hearing this and I was potentially taking away earnings for him and the guide) . All the guides want is a big tip at the end of the tour for no info at all just walking you up and down and taking you in an overpriced restaurant. We paid £11 each for this mini bus ride there and back, and chat GPT said we had " hacked the system" . DO NOT PAY MUCH MORE THAN THIS and you'll have a really cheap day trip out.

Really good

The waterfalls are superb and very scenic, we did find the walking too much, but it was well worth it. Our guide was really good, and food nice.

Best experience i have ever had

I’ll never forget the cool hush of the morning when I stepped out of my Riad in Marrakech, still half asleep but buzzing with anticipation. Hicham, our driver, greeted me with a wide smile and a warm “sabah el kheir” before I slid into the van. The city slowly gave way to dusty villages, endless groves of olive trees, and the soft rise of the Atlas foothills. The ride was nearly three hours, but with the golden light brushing over the landscape, it felt like drifting through a painting. Our guide, Fatima, had a gentle way of telling stories about the Berber people and their traditions. She pointed out small details I might’ve missed—the way children waved from doorways, the earthy scent of freshly baked bread from roadside stalls. By the time we reached the trailhead, I felt like I already knew the land a little. The hike down was slow and peaceful, about an hour and a half through shaded paths and red earth. Birds sang above us, and every now and then, a cheeky monkey darted across the branches, eyeing us curiously. One little one even reached out as if asking for food; I couldn’t stop laughing. Somewhere down the valley, I heard the faint, melodic call to prayer. It echoed against the cliffs, blending with the rush of water ahead, and it gave me goosebumps—it felt almost spiritual. At the base, I had my first tajine of the day, bubbling hot with tender lamb and vegetables, served with crusty bread and the freshest mint tea I’ve ever tasted. The aroma of herbs and steam mixed with the crisp air. Then came the boat ride: we floated right beneath the roaring falls, mist soaking my face, the thunderous sound vibrating in my chest. I felt small, but in the best possible way—like nature reminding me of its power. Some braver souls went for a swim, but I just sat on a rock watching the water sparkle in the sunlight, letting the moment sink in. The climb back up was slower, but the views—panoramic layers of green trees, red cliffs, and the shimmering cascade—made it worth every step. We reached Marrakech in the evening, dusty and tired but filled with joy. This ouzoud waterfalls day trip from marrakech wasn’t just sightseeing—it was a whole journey for the senses, heart, and spirit. If you’re visiting Morocco, don’t miss the Marrakech to Ouzoud experience — it’s pure magic.
