This tour is highly recommended. My colleague and I were in Oslo on a familiarization trip and had some free time. We came across this walk somewhat by chance, and while we had some general knowledge of Oslo, it was nowhere near this level. We were met by our wonderful guide, Sandra, from Oslo Guidebureau at the Oslo Visitor Centre. She was an outstandingly professional guide with an impressive depth of knowledge about Oslo. Originally from Switzerland, she has lived in Norway and Oslo for many years, which gave her a unique and well-balanced perspective. The tour gave us real insight into Oslo’s transformation from its historical roots to the modern city it is today. Sandra took us to places we would never have discovered on our own and delivered an engaging, well-structured, and genuinely fascinating tour throughout. If you are visiting Oslo and want to experience the city beyond the surface, this tour comes highly recommended. A big thank you to our guide for a memorable experience!
Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that you enjoyed The City of Contrasts tour and gained new insights into Oslo’s history and transformation. It’s especially rewarding to know that even with prior knowledge of the city, the experience offered something new. We truly appreciate your kind words about Sandra. Her international background and deep knowledge of Oslo make her tours both engaging and insightful, and we’re very proud to have her on our team. Thank you again for joining us — we hope to welcome you back to Oslo in the future!
Hello from Uruguay! We joined this tour as part of the Oslo Pass we purchased with my wife. We visited the more diverse part of the city, got to see The Mother (a big sculpture next to the Munch Museum) and ended up in the Opera House, whose roof is completely walkable and gives you a beautiful view of the city. This was the last tour we joined and we were very happy to see our guide Erik again. Highly recommend this tour!
Great that you liked it and that you came to so many of our tours. Thank you!
Eric/Erik was an excellent & knowledgeable guide who shed great insight into the history & culture of the city during the well-paced evening tour.
Thank you for joining the tours and for sharing and let us know your thoughts. Welcome back!
We really enjoyed the tour with Rune. It was a very good tour to get insights of the city from somebody who lived in Oslo for a long time.
Great experience through Oslo with Runne - walked from the train station to the main library and it definitely did not disappoint!
Rune gave is a new and different perspective over the city, in a passionate and most interesting way imaginable. The contrasts and the change over the years brought a new dimension to our knowledge of the city. Rune introduced us to a Brand new Oslo, very gratefull mother and daughter from Portugal.
What great insight we got from Rune, our knowledgeable tour guide, about Oslo's fascinating history, culture and architecture! We gained an appreciation for the uniqueness of this city from early times to modern days.
Rune was our guide and arrived at the Visitor Center 20 minutes before the walk began. He made the tour engaging by sharing stories about immigration in the 1970s, old Oslo, and the architectural developments and landmarks like the Munch Museum, Opera House, and the Library. Time flew by without us noticing. We finished the tour at the library, visited the "Silent Room," and then headed over to SALT for dinner.
That was really great. The guide showed us the very different parts of the city but meanwhile so close. Thanks for the experience. Highly recommended!
Astonishing guided tour with Arune that was really an excellent ambassador of his town. Oslo is indeed a city of contrasts!
