We stayed at the camp at Tulpar Kol at the beginning of June. It was an amazing opportunity to spend time in this region before tourist groups arrived at base camp. Smooth communication with Abdilla (the camp owner) several months in advance helped us plan our trip reliably. Overall, it was a great pleasure to have Abdilla around—he took care of any issues, organized his team, and simply took time to share with us their life and culture. He is a true pioneer, actively developing tourism in the Alay Valley and living out that vision. Staying in the yurts was very comfortable. Abdilla's family made sure we stayed warm, had plenty of food, and that everything was kept clean. Abdilla also arranged our transportation—getting there wasn't without its challenges. I can recommend anyone traveling there to get in touch with the camp and spend few nights there. By early June, it's already possible to enjoy some beautiful hikes and take in the region’s spectacular views and natural highlights. I would strongly advise, however, that if you're planning to catch a plane on the way back, you allow several extra hours in your schedule. The road can be very unpredictable, and you might need the extra time (e.g. for car reparations etc).
We organized Akyl very well. The first day due to bad weather we couldn't do the trek. They rearranged our trekking to do it the next day
I have known Abdilla for over two years now since we first got in contact when I was planning my visit to Sary-Mogul. I have nothing but good things to say about Abdilla, his business and his family. Abdilla was very extremely helpful, kind and accommodating. He arranged transport for my friend and I to make our self guided tour happen. He provided advice and a wonderful homestay experience. The food was plentiful and very nourishing - he and his family went above and beyond to make our trip a special experience. Abdilla is a wealth of knowledge on his home country and all of the activities available. Abdilla even helped negotiate taxi fares for us from Osh to Sary-Mogul even before we had met. I stayed many nights in the homestay and Abdilla even invited me to a special excursion. I am grateful to Abdilla for all of his help and I can wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone looking to have an unforgettable experience in the amazing Kyrgyzstan. The scenery is absolutely is phenomenal. It is peaceful and rejuvenating. Thank you to Adbilla and his family and I wish you all the success with future tours and clients - they are in safe hands with you.
