The trip was simply awesome. Our guide Ermi was unique, he brought us into a real Ethiopian experience. Our flight was the day after the tour and they also spent an additional afternoon showing us additional places. Highly recommended!

This tour was truly life-changing. Having the opportunity to meet these tribes with a knowledgeable guide who has earned their trust and respect made all the difference. It would not have been the same experience otherwise. Ermi and Fahmi were an incredible team. They made sure I was safe, comfortable, and well cared for throughout the trip. I can’t say enough good things about either of them. The owner, Minalu, was also very responsive whenever I had questions before and during the tour. There are a few things I wish I had known before I went: 1. When budgeting for tips, remember that there is both a guide and a driver. Both are essential to the success of the tour and both deserve to be recognized. 2. Each village also provides its own local guide who leads you through the community and shares its traditions and culture. While tipping isn’t mandatory, I felt these guides absolutely deserved one. Many villages also sell beautiful handmade crafts that are worth supporting. 3. I brought a suitcase full of donated supplies. They were heavy to transport, and I later realized that some of the items I thought would be useful really weren’t. If I were to do it again, I would bring the money instead and purchase supplies locally with my guide’s help. He knows exactly what the communities need and where to buy it, and your purchases also support the local economy. 4. You’ll be staying in locally owned accommodations and eating at local restaurants. Don’t forget to budget for tips for the housekeeping staff, waitstaff, and anyone who helps with your luggage. 5. Bring Ethiopian birr with you before leaving Addis Ababa. Credit cards and U.S. dollars may be accepted in the capital, but once you’re in the Omo Valley, cash in birr is essential. This wasn’t just a sightseeing trip—it was an experience that changed the way I see the world. I would recommend it to anyone looking for an authentic, respectful, and unforgettable cultural experience.

A trip of a lifetime, you’ll make memories you will forever look back on. I was hesitant to book the tour as I’m solo traveling as a female but am so glad I did! I feel you haven’t experienced Ethiopia if you miss out on this! Minalu dealt with all my queries prior to booking, I had the most amazing guide Solomon and driver Fahmi (who not only drove us but was also our dancer with the best music for the road trip), they were both the kindest souls I’ve met this whole trip, I felt so safe & cared for. So incredibly lucky to have met them! I would 100% recommend this company, they are reliable, local to the tribes and have exceptional customer service. What you see on your visit will be very humbling and impactful. Tip-bring as much cash as you may want to donate, also as offerings to the tribes purchase chocolates, soap, footballs, stationery for school, umbrellas for the heat, gear to help them with their day to day life (farming, fishing etc). What may seem small/insignificant to you makes the world of difference and you will see their immense gratitude with even a soap bar! You will meet many children without any shoes, if you’re lucky to visit on a market day, if you wanted to you could buy them slippers there! Thank you for one of the most memorable experiences of my life, Solomon informed me of how there are projects to introduce clean water to some of the deprived villages, in case anyone has any interest to find out more about that.

Our experience with Top Omo Valley Tours was truly unforgettable and even better than we expected. From the very beginning, Minalu, the owner, showed excellent communication skills. Before the trip, he always replied quickly, was very patient, and paid attention to every detail. He helped us create an itinerary that perfectly matched our interests. During the trip, he continued to check that everything was going well, which made us feel safe and relaxed. The journey through the main attractions of Lalibela was amazing. We visited several beautiful places, including the 11 rock-hewn churches and Asheton Maryam, and we were able to respectfully learn about the local culture. Each place was different and special, with interesting traditions and meaningful encounters with people. The guides and drivers were also excellent. They were professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable. They made every day easy and enjoyable, always ready to help and answer our questions. One of the best parts of the trip was taking photos of colorful markets, stunning views, and authentic cultural moments that we will always remember. Overall, Top Omo Valley Tours gave us a fantastic experience. Minalu and his team did an outstanding job, both in planning and during the trip. I strongly recommend them to anyone who wants to visit Lalibela in a well-organized and meaningful way.

I had an amazing experience exploring the Omo Valley. We visited several tribes including the Mursi, Karo, Hamer, and Banna, and also spent time in Konso. The itinerary was very well organized, with stays in Jinka and Turmi in really nice lodges throughout the trip. The company owner, Minalu, was excellent—always quick to respond, answered all my questions, and was very flexible in adjusting the trip to my preferences. Everything felt personalized and smooth from start to finish. Our driver, Fahmi, was not only skilled but also very funny, which made the long drives much more enjoyable. My guide, Sergjo, was outstanding—extremely knowledgeable, great storyteller, and spoke perfect English. He explained everything in a clear and engaging way, which really enriched the whole experience. Overall, a fantastic trip with a great team. Highly recommended if you want to explore the Omo Valley in a well-organized and authentic way.

I had an absolutely amazing experience with Top Omo Valley Tours. Minalu was so helpful tailoring me "my perfect tour" which included birdwatching and tribes. It was absolutely authentic. Bruke was an amazing and experienced driver, Sergio a great guide. I even had the chance to see the bull jump of the Hamer tribe. What an experience!!!!

We chose the 6-night tour from Jinka to Arba Minch. Excellent communication with Minalu who has well adapted the program to our needs, following us thoughtfully even during the journey. We had Fami as a good driver who behaved well on the bumpy roads full of obstacles, and Sergio as a good guide who with his creative mind helped us take beautiful photographs. 3 great people. Fantastic time! This tour company and all its employees are so reliable, trustworthy, knowledgeable and extremely helpful. We saw 2 young men cow jump from the Hamar tribe! Loved the hair styles of the Hamar women & the lip plates of the Mursi women. Overall, we would rate this company A++++!
