Votre premier arrêt est Jama Masjid, la plus grande mosquée d'Inde. Construite en 1656 avec le travail de 5 000 ouvriers, cette merveille architecturale vous invite à explorer sa vaste cour en grès rouge et à vous immerger dans sa riche histoire.
Khari Baoli est une rue animée de Delhi, réputée pour son épicerie de gros et le plus grand marché aux épices d'Asie. Vous y trouverez un large éventail d'épices, de noix, d'herbes et de produits alimentaires tels que du riz et du thé. Ouvert depuis le XVIIe siècle, ce marché animé est idéalement situé à proximité du Fort Rouge historique de Delhi.
Le Fort Rouge, construit par Shah Jahan entre 1638 et 1648, était la résidence principale des empereurs moghols. Son architecture présente un mélange étonnant de styles indo-islamique et moghol. L'une de ses caractéristiques les plus impressionnantes est son mur de 2 kilomètres de long, qui ajoute à la grandeur de ce fort historique.
Il détient deux records du monde Guinness. Construit en 2005, son architecture d'aspect ancien donne l'impression qu'il existe depuis plus de mille ans. Malgré sa construction relativement récente, il est l'un des plus grands temples hindous du monde.
Le mémorial de guerre de l'India Gate, construit en 1931 en grès jaune, rend hommage aux 13 300 militaires de l'armée indienne qui ont perdu la vie pendant la Première Guerre mondiale. Les noms de ces braves soldats sont finement gravés dans ses murs, rendant ainsi un hommage solennel à leur sacrifice.
Après avoir visité la Porte de l'Inde, vous passerez devant le Parlement. N'hésitez pas à prendre des photos avant de vous diriger vers votre prochain monument.
Votre dernier arrêt à Delhi est le Temple du Lotus, une maison d'adoration bahá'íe inaugurée en décembre 1986. Réputé pour son design distinctif en forme de fleur, le temple est devenu une attraction majeure de la ville.
Le tombeau d'Humayun est un site classé au patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO et le premier tombeau-jardin d'Inde. Construit par l'épouse d'Humayun, l'impératrice Bega Begum, le tombeau a été érigé en sa mémoire après sa mort.
Le Qutub Minar, construit en 1192 en briques, est le plus haut minaret du monde. Situé à Mehrauli, il fait également partie du site du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO.

We had a half-day layover in Delhi, and this was a perfect way to spend our time here.
