An excellent experience with JD and his colleague, highly recommended! We visited temples, monuments, and parts of the market that we would not have been able to see without a good guide. The food spots are super authentic and delicious, and they are chosen with great care to ensure they are suitable for foreigners. They answered all our questions and made us feel very comfortable. Thank you JD and team!

This was so much more than just a food tour—it was the perfect combination of Old Delhi food, culture, history, temples, and local experiences. If you’re looking for the best Old Delhi Food Tour, Delhi Street Food Tour, or a Chandni Chowk Walking Tour, this experience is a must. We visited the beautiful Jain Temple, admired the historic Hindu Temple from the outside, and explored a peaceful Sikh Gurudwara, where we even had the opportunity to visit the community kitchen (Langar) and learn about its traditions. The highlight was tasting some of the most delicious and authentic street food in Old Delhi. Every food stop was 100% safe, hygienic, and personally handpicked by the Explore Real India team, making it an ideal experience for international travelers who want to enjoy safe street food in Delhi. The tour is also vegetarian-friendly, with plenty of incredible local specialties to try. We wandered through the vibrant narrow lanes of Chandni Chowk, explored Asia’s largest spice market (Khari Baoli) with its incredible sights and aromas, and enjoyed a memorable cycle rickshaw ride through Old Delhi, offering a unique perspective of this historic neighborhood. It offers the perfect mix of street food, local culture, heritage, temples, and hidden gems that most visitors would never discover on their own. Every stop was clean, hygienic, and personally chosen by the Explore Real India team, making it a great option for anyone wanting to experience safe street food in Delhi. There were also plenty of delicious vegetarian food options, making this a fantastic vegetarian food tour in Delhi. Along the way, we visited the beautiful Jain Temple, saw a historic Hindu Temple, and explored a welcoming Sikh Gurudwara, including a visit to its community kitchen, which was a memorable cultural experience. One of my favorite parts was walking through Khari Baoli, Asia’s largest spice market, where the colorful spices and lively atmosphere make it one of the most fascinating places in Delhi. The traditional cycle rickshaw ride through Old Delhi was another highlight and gave us a unique way to experience the charm of Chandni Chowk. If you’re visiting Delhi, don’t miss this tour. We booked it because we wanted to try great local food, but it ended up being so much more than that. JD is an excellent guide who clearly knows Old Delhi inside out. Throughout the tour he shared interesting stories about the city’s history, explained different cultural and religious traditions, and was happy to answer all sorts of questions about life in India. You never felt like he was reciting a script—it was more like exploring the city with a knowledgeable local. The food stops were all fantastic, with a good variety of dishes that we probably wouldn’t have found on our own. JD also did a great job of making everyone feel at ease, especially those of us visiting India for the first time. He was mindful of what foreign travellers might be unsure about without taking away from the authenticity of the experience. A really enjoyable afternoon with brilliant food, plenty of laughs, and a much deeper understanding of Old Delhi than we’d have had otherwise. We’d recommend it to anyone visiting the city.
Thank you so much for this glowing and thoughtful review! Hearing that our walk felt like exploring the city with a knowledgeable friend rather than following a script is the greatest compliment I could ask for! Old Delhi has so many layers of history, culture, and life, and my goal is always to make foreign travelers—especially first-timers—feel completely comfortable, safe, and at ease while soaking in the authentic charm of these historic streets. I am so glad you enjoyed all the handpicked food stops, the laughs, and the deep dive into local life! Now that you've tasted the vibrant flavors on the streets, next time you are in Delhi, you’ll have to step into my family home so we can teach you how to cook authentic Indian dishes and blend your own spices from scratch! On behalf of the whole Explore Real India team, thank you again for your trust, your wonderful company, and for taking the time to share your experience with fellow travelers. Wishing you many more incredible journeys ahead, and we hope to welcome you back to Delhi soon!
We had such a great afternoon with JD on his Old Delhi food tour. It was easily one of the highlights of our time in Delhi. The food was excellent, but what really made the tour was JD himself. He was funny, easy to chat to, and incredibly knowledgeable—not just about the food, but about the history, culture, and day-to-day life in India. We asked loads of questions about religion, customs, politics, and the history of Delhi, and he always had thoughtful, balanced answers that gave us a much better understanding of the city and the country. As a first time visitors to India, I also really appreciated how considerate he was. He clearly understands and accommodates the needs of foreign travellers without ever making the experience feel watered down. We felt like we were seeing the real Old Delhi while still feeling comfortable throughout If you’re looking for more than just a food tour—something that gives you a genuine insight into Delhi and Indian culture—I’d absolutely recommend booking with JD. Five stars without hesitation.
I had such a fantastic afternoon with you, thank you so much for this stellar review! For me, an Old Delhi food tour shouldn't just be about eating; it’s the absolute best excuse to sit down, share a meal, and dive deep into real conversations. I absolutely loved all your thoughtful questions about our history, politics, and daily customs. Helping guests walk away with a genuine, grounded understanding of Indian culture is exactly what I aim for, so reading this means the world to me. Wow, look no further!! The best experience ever! My husband and I went and got to try safe foods, see beautiful temples, and experience a tour like no other. He was even able to arrange another tour we were wanting to do but didn’t have the time to do so he made some calls and assisted. Truly book this tour, you won’t regret it!!!

If you are looking for an Old Delhi food tour, this is the one to book. We explored the vibrant chaos of Chandni Chowk Bazaar and visited Asia’s largest spice market, which was a sensory overload in the best way possible. The itinerary also included a peaceful Jain temple visit and a trip to a Sikh temple to witness its awe-inspiring mega kitchen in action. The guide even showed us a beautiful, hidden alleyway that was absolutely perfect for Instagram photography! The street food was fantastic, but what really set this apart was our host. Throughout my entire travels, I've found that it's rare to get this level of depth. You don't just learn about India—you walk away feeling genuinely motivated. Hearing the host's story and experiencing their passion gave the whole day so much meaning. It’s incredibly difficult to find that kind of personal connection anywhere else, which is exactly why I don’t just call this a tour— it’s a true experience. Highly recommended!
I am honestly quite moved reading this. Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a heartfelt reflection on our time together in Old Delhi. Balancing the incredible, vibrant chaos (and sensory overload!) of the spice market with the quiet peace of the Jain and Sikh temples is exactly what makes this city so magical. I'm so glad you enjoyed the contrast, and that we got to capture some amazing photos in that hidden alleyway! But more than the sights or the street food, it means the absolute world to me that you connected with my personal story. Showcasing the authentic heart of our city's culinary scene—which we love sharing with our community on Insta at Food Tours Delhi—is really just my way of sharing my heritage with you. It is meaningful conversations like ours that remind me why I do this. Since you were so captivated by the mega kitchen at the Sikh temple, next time you visit, we have to get you into a kitchen yourself! We host traditional, hands-on culinary experiences right in our family home (you can see what we cook up over on Instagram at Art of Indian Cooking). And if you are ever looking to find that same deep, personal connection and meaning in other parts of the country, just search for Explore Real India online. I would be incredibly honored to help craft your next journey. Thank you for seeing the true heart of India with me. Wishing you all the best until our paths cross again!
This was one of the best experiences I had in Delhi. It combined incredible food, fascinating history, and genuine cultural insight in a way that no guidebook ever could. JD is an exceptional guide who clearly loves sharing his city. Every food stop was carefully chosen, and I had the chance to taste a wide range of authentic Indian dishes from different regions. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and selected with great care, so I felt comfortable trying foods I would never have ordered on my own. The tour was much more than eating. Walking through the bustling streets, visiting beautiful temples, and hearing the stories behind the places gave me a much deeper understanding of India's traditions and daily life. After the tour, I was so inspired that I joined JD's cooking classes and even bought his cookbook "The Art of Indian cooking" so I could continue exploring Indian cuisine at home. If you're looking for an authentic experience rather than a typical tourist activity, don't miss this tour. It's informative, delicious, and unforgettable.
Yesterday we spent an incredible day in Delhi with our guide JD. We walked through the city centre, visited amazing monasteries and ancient temples, and each stop revealed something new and inspiring. JD is not just a professional guide, but a truly bright, kind and interesting person. His love of Delhi, knowledge of history and storytelling made this tour special. It seemed like we were traveling around town with an old friend. Special thanks for the gastronomic discoveries. JD showed us incredible local places with food - simple, authentic and delicious. It is thanks to such places that you can get a real taste of Delhi. Thank you, JD, for this memorable day, for the emotions, impressions and atmosphere. We're really happy to meet you and we really hope to see you again. Such people you want not only as a guide, but also as friends.
JD was an amazing host, and this experience was one of the highlights of my time in Delhi. It was so much more than a food tour—it was a genuine introduction to Indian culture and everyday life. By the end, I felt like I had experienced the real vibe of India, not just visited a market and tamples. I tasted an incredible variety of food from different regions of India, and every stop offered something unique. Everything I tried was absolutely delicious, and I really appreciated that JD carefully selected food stalls that are both authentic and safe, so I could enjoy trying new dishes without worrying about getting sick. We also visited several beautiful temples, and JD shared fascinating stories and cultural insights throughout the walk. I enjoyed the experience so much that afterward I decided to attend JD's cooking class and buy JD's recipe book, The Art of Indian Cooking on Amazon so I could recreate some of the dishes at home. If you simply walk through the spice market on your own, you'll miss so much. JD brings the place to life with his knowledge, warmth, and passion. I highly recommend this experience to anyone who wants to understand India beyond the usual sightseeing.
