Description

We booked this tour with high hopes, based on a detailed itinerary promising a full experience: whale shark watching/swimming, Tumalog Falls, Sumilon Island, all entrance fees covered, breakfast and lunch included, and guided assistance throughout. For the price we paid (AUS $413.32), it seemed worth it. Unfortunately, the execution fell short. Our driver had a different itinerary and, while pickup at 4 a.m. was punctual, the rest felt disorganized. Breakfast at 9 a.m. consisted of sticky rice and a mango—not quite the “native light breakfast” we expected. At Sumilon Island, we had no guide (unlike other groups) and had to pay ₱350 extra just to snorkel in the area with fish—the free section was barren. As for Sumilon Island sandbar, a major advertised highlight, but here’s the catch: it’s only visible during low tide. No one informed us of this, and we arrived during high tide when it was completely submerged. That should’ve been made clear in advance. The tour seemed to end there, but we had to remind the driver that Tumalog Falls and lunch were part of the package. After some back-and-forth, he finally took us to the falls but initially asked us to pay the entrance fee. Again, we had to insist all fees were included before he covered it. As for the included lunch? Never provided. We returned to our hotel at 7 p.m., hungry and frustrated. We even had to pay for our own water. To be fair, the locations themselves were beautiful. But the lack of organization, miscommunication, and missing inclusions made this tour a disappointing experience for the cost. Would recommend clarifying everything in advance and getting written confirmations before booking.
