Javan of "strictly the best taxi" is STRICTLY THE BEST! he was informative and fun he was culturally knowledgeable and compassionate about it. He taught us a great deal in the short time that we were his fare. He was also sympathetic . we didnt have entrance fee for the park that he took us. he fronted us the money and trusted that we return it when we arrived at our accommodations. so unusual for a tour company. what a beautiful person this guy is. i recommend him for all of your island adventures. however, save a week for us for when we return to the island!
Great Island Experience. Not only did we get to see some of the resident birds but we also got a bit of history of the reserve and island. Be sure to bring sturdy walking shoes as you will be doing a light hike. Highly recommend the experience
Ken was fantastic, very patient and showed us as much as possible. He also had a great sense of humour and took his time. Ken is a very good asset and would highly recommend him.
I booked this tour, then called when I saw the trail was closed - they told me to cancel as it was indeed closed, so I did, then they disputed the cancellation when I cancelled the charge on my card - they had to go out of their way to dispute the charge - really unimpressive - more so since they knew the trail was closed yet kept the booking options open, and then literally told me to cancel, and then disputed me not paying for it. So I had to pay for the trip even though we could not go. Book through your hotel, it's cheaper, and you'll actually be able to go. - avoid this company.
This is what is disappointing that when people are writing reviews to the wrong company. If this birdwatching tour was booked through our tour company it can only be done through tripadvisor and if a booking was cancelled viator has their strong policy about cancellation and if refunds are disputed we have to give proof of tour was operated. All birdwatching tour we had was cancelled and refunded. We have never had anyone complained about not receiving their refund when they cancel. I can say everyone knows tripadvisor once you cancel you do not have to go and cancel your charge on your card because you do get a refund strait from tripadvisor. This is the first person who is saying that they have to cancel the charge on their card. Everything that was said in this review is very fishy and this looks like either a review made in the wrong place or a malicious review.
We saw very few birds on the Millet hike so you must be sure you are booking the early morning bird watching tour not the later hike. However we saw many birds at our hotel (Regency La Toc). Storming Norman made things right by us and he is a gentleman and very professional.
This is one of the main reasons we request that clients leave early for bird watching but wanted to do their own time. Bird watching at 10am is a bad idea. Bird watching should be done very early. Like the saying says the early bird catches the worm.
The Bird Watching was a great experience. Because it was a very windy day our guide, Vision, said many birds weren't seen. We saw 15 different species including a cuckoo, peewees, shiny cowbirds, humm6ingbirds and more. BUT here's the complaint we were told our initial payment of $64.62 per person (there were two of us) was only for the transportation. And then we were charged an extra $90.00 for the guide! A big surprise and not worth this experience.
The charge of $90 was mentioned in the tour which has to be paid for the guide. All you paid for is for the transportation and the guide is an extra fee which is called the entrance fee which goes to the guide. Many people do not read all the details of the tour which is booked and in return want to put a review because the charge was given. Please find in the attachment where you will find that it was mentioned that a fee of US$90 per person would be charged for entrance fees and it also shows that entrance fees are not included in the price. This is totally unfair of the review you are putting that will affect my whole business. Do you think if I robbed you that I would request that you put a review on my site.
We saw 15 different bird species including a Cuckoo, shiny cowbirds, hummingbirds and doves to name a few. Also, our guide Vision identified many indigenous plants and trees. It was a very windy day so some birds were not seen that usually are. Our Guide Vision was raised in the area we bird watched so he was extremely knowledgeable. Be warned the price you pay on Viator is only for the transportation! We were charged an extra $90.00 for the guide!!!! Had we known this up front we would not have booked as in total was too expensive.
As beginner birdwatchers, we were looking for a half-day private tour and this one seemed to fit the bill. Even before we arrived, St. Lucian Taxi & Tours was very communicative and flexible in confirming our pickup time from our villa in Soufriere. The driver arrived on time in a clean car and was pleasant. We stopped to pick up the guide along the way, which made things a bit tight in the back seat (as there was an unused car seat). The tour took us to Enbas Saut rather than Millet, but we were fine with that. We had a nice three-hour walk on a mostly gravel road with our guide (Smith), who was very good at spotting and identifying birds, even repeating their whistles. We saw at least a dozen bird species, including all five endemic birds of St. Lucia, though not all up close. At the end of the tour, there was some confusion about who was responsible for the US$30pp park entrance fee, but the tour operator promptly made things right with us. All in all, we had a good time and were happy with the tour.
Its a great pleasure to hear from our clients of their experience being with us. This gives us a great time to look over on how we can improve the experience of our product. We do take note of our strengths and weaknesses and make the future improvement. We do Welcome you as a new member of our traveling family and do look forward in continuing serving you and many more in the near future. See you again
Communication between us and this operator were easy, I wanted a private day of birding for myself and my husband while in port on a Cruise and it all went as planned. Vision met us at exactly 8am and we started with the lower forest areas, saw many great birds and then by afternoon we drove a short distance to do some hiking in the rain forest for some additional birds like the St. Lucia Parrot and the St. Lucia Oriole to name a few. The hike was somewhat challenging so be prepared the rocks are slippery, made more difficult by the large camera and lens around my neck but the view and seeing the Parrots in the wild were definitely worth the climb. If I had to guess we probably identified 20-25 birds on our adventure and day birding.
