Absolutely fabulous experience and one of our favourite things we did in Corfu! We visited this beautiful olive plantation as a family, with our two children, and had the most wonderful morning. The plantation has been in the owner’s family for five generations, with each generation working as olive farmers, and his passion and knowledge really came through in the tour. He was incredibly kind, engaging and generous with his time, and we learned so much about olive farming, the history of the plantation and, of course, olive oil. What made it particularly special was that everyone enjoyed it on a different level — even our children were completely engaged and came away having learned so much. It was fascinating, relaxed and genuinely interesting throughout. The setting itself was beautiful, with lots of lovely shade beneath the olive trees, making it such a peaceful way to spend a morning. We also had an amazing lunch and got to taste the olive oil, which was a real highlight. It was a small, intimate group, which made the whole experience feel personal and authentic. We left feeling that we had experienced something really special and had been given a wonderful insight into a family tradition that has been passed down for generations. We would wholeheartedly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Corfu, especially families. It was informative, delicious, beautiful and, above all, incredibly memorable. One of the absolute highlights of our holiday!
Second time doing this tour. Since our last visit Jonathan and Chrisa have created a wonderful idyll where they passionately explain the history of olive oil and the production process through the ages. The dedicated historical research was eloquently presented and his enthusiasm to teach was inspirational. Ideal small group tour with some local nibbles at the end. Do not miss this one if you have a few of hours free, a reasonably priced and educational experience.
Really informative; everything related to olives, their cultivation, and processing is explained here with a lot of love. You get a good insight. I only found it a pity that you couldn't look at the plantation itself, but I assume that there are reasons for that. The meze afterwards was very delicious and lovingly prepared; the olive oil tastes very special.
Thank you very much for your kind and detailed review! We're delighted that you enjoyed your experience with us. We'd just like to clarify one point. The entire tour takes place in our main olive grove. Our grove covers a large area with thousands of olive trees, so it isn't possible to visit every part of it during a three-hour tour. The route is carefully planned to give visitors a complete understanding of olive growing, harvesting, and olive oil production.
Really excellent, well informed and lovely people. I never realised the serious amount of work that has to go in to olive oil. It felt a privilege to try the the oil and the meal at the end was outstanding. Thank you, the highlight of our holiday!
Jonathan is a master of his craft. Both in olives and in tours. I admired him from the beginning. He speaks with such confidence and passion. Advancing the trade to modern times, yet fully respectful to centuries of traditions. I've huge respect for him and his wife. Great management of shade and standing and sitting during those wild Corfu summer days, water to hand always, and genuinely entertaining and informative. The time flew by. Aircon car, comfortable and prompt pickup. He and his wife are friendly, accomodating and just all round great, hard working people that deserve the best this life has to offer, and the next. Jonathan, if you read this, I apologise to you and your wife for my broken greek speaking attempts, I'm still learning. Thankyou for being so kind with my daughter also, who was DEFINATELY 12☺️. I'll be returning to Pegasus Hotel in October, solo travelling, maybe you want a beer or ill get that coffee with you, if I can get to you? I can't stay away from Roda, I'm convinced I was born in UK by mistake. Really I am. My mother, who is crazy about olive oil, was blown away by your oil (we gave a small tin to her when we got back) your efforts continue to spread across the world!
We spent a week in Arillas and were looking for experiences during our stay. Having done several wine pastings on previous holidays we came across Elaion Private Tours. I contacted Jonathan to arrange a day for the tour and he was able to arrange this and for a small fee picked us up from our apartments in Arillas and another small group en route, so only 6 for the tour. The experience was excellent and we learned a massive amount around the process of producing organic extra virgin olive oil, the history of olive oil production in the region and so much more. We enjoyed tasing of the oil and this came as a real surprise (you'll find out when you go!). At the end we were treated to an excellent light lunch with wine. Jonathan and Chryssa were superb hosts and they are developing an outstanding and unique business which takes you'll off the tourist trail in north Corfu. Well worth a visit and a thoroughly enjoyable half day
My partner and I did this tour on. Wednesday 22nd July. We were picked up right outside our hotel and taken to the olive grove. The tour was fabulous and filled with lots of information given in a fun way. Tour includes tasting the excellent oil and a light lunch including wine. Having celiac disease is tricky to say the least when eating out but I was catered for very well. This young couple deserve to do well . A trip not to be missed.
Best tour on Corfu! So well organized, informative, fun, and delicious! It’s so nice to see this couple keeping tradition alive on the island and educating others in the process. It was a sweltering hot July morning when we visited. I’d never driven on Corfiot roads and had some doubts about surviving the heat. But the drive through the village was lovely and Jonathan graciously kept us in the shade for the duration of the tour. Now that I’m back at home, every morning while making my coffee I smell the sweet perfume of the olive oil I took with me and reminisce about those few hours in the Elaion groves :)
Jonathan and Chrysa are the most welcoming hosts. They share a heritage, knowledge, and a passion for their olive grove and wider farm that makes the tour and information shared easily accessible, interesting and memorable for many reasons. Tasting the oil was unique as it was unexpected. The meze was a delicious end to the tour. I would highly recommend this fabulous experience. Book now you will not be disappointed!!
Seen this advertised a few years and finally decided to do this tour, not disappointed, what a treat it was!! Jonathan picked us up and drove to their olive grove, there was a small group. He told us all about what he and his family are doing, how they work in traditional style and the whole proces while walking us from site to site in the olive grove. There were seating areas and shade available. The olive and oil tasting were great and we learned a lot. At the end a lovely meze lunch was served and after that we were driven back to Roda. A fantastic experience, definitely worth the money.
