Naxos Wine & Mythology Sunset Tour

Description

Angelica was an amazing guide. She was fun to walk around the old town of Naxos with all of the history it provided. She made the mythology side of it a lot of fun and the wines were great! Three good samples of wine about halfway through the tour in an air conditioned gallery.
Overall, the experience felt more like a newly developed tour that is still finding its footing rather than a polished attraction. I was expecting a stronger focus on mythology, but there was very little historical or cultural storytelling throughout. The wine tasting itself was enjoyable, although it was immediately followed by what felt like a fairly aggressive sales pitch in the shop, which detracted from the experience. The tour also felt longer than necessary, and by the end I found it quite repetitive. Finally, the guide left before sunset, which was disappointing as this seemed like it should have been one of the highlights of the visit. Considering the cost of £60 per person, I didn't feel the overall experience offered good value for money
Wonderful mythology and wine walking tour. The guide was very knowledgeable, and thoughtfully integrated Greek history and mythology into walk through old Naxos town including a beautiful Venetian castle where we were introduced to some Greek wine. The tour ended at Apollo’s Temple for beautiful sunset.
The Naxos Wine and Mythology tour was amazing. It was pretty much the first thing we did when we arrived on the island, as I knew it would give us the info and excitement about the island that my daughters and I needed to properly explore Naxos town. Maryanne was our tour guide and she was a wealth of knowledge about the island and history of Greece. She was also an amazing photographer! Some of my favourite pictures from our trip to Greece came from her! We wandered parts of Naxos Town we wouldn't have seen had we not done this tour, and learned about its history along the way. Maryanne took us to a house/museum where we enjoyed some wine and accompanying snacks. We learned about how the old Greek politicians would drink their wine, and we even got to drink out of cups they would have drunk from. The wine itself wasn't awesome, but I can be fussy about my wine! It was still an amazing part of the journey. We ended the tour at the Portara up on the hill - the Temple of Apollo. This is where we got our best photos of the tour and we said goodbye to our lovely tour friends, who came from Scotland, Canada and the US. I highly recommend this tour if you visit Naxos, and try to get Maryanne if you can!
Αγγελική (Angelica), who is an archeologist, was an amazing story teller of Greek mythology and very personable. The walk through Naxos with iconic picture spots, history, mythology, and of course, the wine, was simply breathtaking and amazing. Thank you to Angelica for making our first day in Naxos such a memorable one. She may also have a side career for photography as she took amazing photos of us along the way!
The Greek Mythology wine tour was a lovely introduction to Naxian history, mythology, and, everyone’s favorite, wine. Our tour guide Elizabeth was engaging and set the tone for the experience with our multigenerational group. The sunset view from Apollo’s temple was nothing short of breathtaking. Would recommend to anyone visiting, my group’s only regret was that we didn’t do the tour on Day 1 in Naxos!
Our guide Christos was wonderful. He was knowledgeable, funny and a great storyteller. The samplings of wine and Greek treats were great! There is a lot of walking but totally worth it.
This was a wonderful tour of Naxos old town. Kris was an excellent guide and shared tons of interesting information about Greece history and mythology. We enjoyed several glasses of wine and finished our tour at Apollo’s gate, just in time for a beautiful sunset.
The Wine and Mythology Sunset tour was a wonderful experience! Our tour guide was extremely nice, courteous, and knowledgable about the island and especially the old town area of the port city. She gave great recommendations for shops and restaurants in the area, offered to take key pictures of everyone who attended, and adapted the tour to work best for the attendees (a group of ~8). The wine was delicious, the vibes were immaculate, and catching the sunset at the temple of Apollo was truly the cherry on top.
Great tour loved the wine tasting and mythology tour
