Naples : Excursion d’une journée à Pompéi et Herculanum – Excursion en petit groupe

We are so glad we had a guide to explain to us exactly what we were looking at and explaining the history. Without the knowledgeable guides its just ruins.

Easy pick up, good guides. Pompeii is enormous, it would take a day or 2 to cover it all

Terrible experience with both the tour operator and the GetYourGuide portal. I must state that I am not writing this review to evaluate the quality of the excursion because unfortunately we were unable to participate, but I am evaluating their nonexistent assistance in case of problems. We were traveling on the Odyssey of the Seas ship which unfortunately, due to an emergency involving a woman who jumped into the sea, had to turn back to rescue her. The operations lasted several hours until the decision was made to skip the Naples stop. Upon the request for cancellation to GetYourGuide, the response was that we would not receive any refund from them since the 24-hour advance notice for such a request had passed. We could have exceptionally received it if the tour operator had given us authorization for the refund. And that is where phone calls with vague answers began, messages on WhatsApp without a response for hours (even though they advertise the number as active 24/7) until the last response that I report here, which made me decide to proceed through legal channels. “Dear customer, I realize, but unfortunately it does not depend on us either and we already had everything scheduled for your tour.” Beware of this agency because if you should need assistance, you will be miserably abandoned.

Definitely an experience to have: it is very convenient to have a guide for a very small group and a driver at your disposal. Antonio, who accompanied us during the day, was very kind and very nice. The guides, Mario in Pompeii and Luca in Herculaneum, were also very well prepared. Overall the experience was very positive, even if some aspects did not convince me entirely. The lunch, for example, was really terrible and, due to the very tight schedule, we were not able to stop at the bookshops in either Pompeii or Herculaneum. In the second part of the tour we were also joined with an English group. Luca bent over backwards to explain everything in both languages in the shortest time possible, but inevitably it was not like having an Italian guide for the entire visit and this also affected the timing. It remains, however, an experience that I recommend even if it is not cheap, especially for the quality of the guides and the convenience of the organization.

We had a good day trip with Antonio Carola providing his excellent driving skills and keeping us all entertained in English and Italian while on the way to Pompeii and Herculaneum. He arranged for a stop at a beautiful church in Pompeii and took photos for us also. It was very helpful to have Andrea guiding us in Pompeii and Luca in Herculaneum. They added a lot of context to the interesting sights we saw. Thanks guys and hope to see you again.

It was a wonderful day. Long because it was “free admission Sunday” at Pompeii. Our driver, Antonio C., was terrific. He met us at the cruise port right outside the gate right on time. He provided us with information about the area and people both going and coming home. Super comfortable van sized for our tour of 8 people. At Pompeii, our guide was Glauco, an excellent guide who knew how to avoid the giant crowds and was able to give us so much more insight into the buildings and events of Pompeii then we had the previous time we had gone there. He didn’t just go to the places other large tours followed, he brought us to place others don’t walk through. We then had a very nice lunch, relaxed atmosphere and never rushed by Antonio. At Herculaneum our guide, Alessio, was also top-notch. We walked over a significant amount of the city (on a very warm day), and saw/learned the difference in the impacts from the volcano. Bottom line, Antonio, Glauco, and Alessio were super. We highly recommend them and the folks at WorldTours who communicated the logistics to us.

The excursions were incredible, it is totally worth it for the price, the service from Ilaria was very good. Always attentive and super helpful and the service from the driver Daniele too!
