Notre visite gastronomique d'Istanbul, qui se concentre sur cette partie fascinante de la ville, commence au marché de Beşiktaş. Plaque tournante du trafic de ferry, recouvert des drapeaux de sa célèbre équipe de football et avec ses rues étroites remplies de meyhanes joyeux et de restaurants simples servant le petit-déjeuner toute la journée, ce quartier est une tranche d'Istanbul réelle et contemporaine pas comme les autres. Parmi les bars à bière et les magasins de vêtements bon marché se trouvent quelques piliers culinaires traditionnels pour menemen, des œufs brouillés à la turque et du bal kaymak, de la crème caillée recouverte de miel - c'est ainsi que nous aimons commencer la journée. Nous visiterons une boulangerie de l'époque ottomane pour acheter des produits de boulangerie frais pour la promenade en bateau sur le Bosphore jusqu'au marché d'Üsküdar, où une culture alimentaire plus traditionnelle est préservée. Nous goûterons le meilleur de ce marché avec des visites chez un vendeur de miel de l'est de la Turquie, un magasin d'olives et un confiseur de troisième génération, avant de partir pour le quartier féerique de Kuzguncuk.

Probably one of the best food tours I have done. Esin was wonderful. So passionate about Istanbul and it's food. She took us to many tiny hidden places as well larger ones. Lots of stories about the history as well. Just loved our day.

We had a great time on our tour with Ugur. We learned a lot about Turkish foods and had the pleasure of exploring multiple different neighborhoods. We especially loved the tree-lined neighborhood across the Bosphorus where we enjoyed mezze upstairs in a small homestyle restaurant. Every bite we had on the tour was delicious and it was the perfect amount of food (skip breakfast!).

Our guide, Gonca, was positively outstanding. This was my first BS Culinary tour, but will not be my last based on this experience. It’s fascinating how much can be learned about a people, history and culture through their food. Not only the content, but the manner in which it is procured, prepared and consumed. We learned when, how and with whom different culinary treats are enjoyed. Our guide was sublimely gifted in conveying such information-and in providing copious amounts of varied and delicious food and drink. We participated on our first full day in Istanbul and it was so informative about neighborhoods, transportation, safety, and of course food!

Tuğçe was an absolutely amazing guide — she made the whole experience phenomenal! This was the absolute best food tour we have ever done. Esin was knowledgeable, thoughtful,well informed and articulate, taking us to multiple different places and looking after us incredibly well. We had a total experience of almost everything possible!! I couldnt speak highly enough f this tour...I just wish they were all this good!!

This food tour was an amazing and un-skippable experience in Istanbul. Our guide was Üğür and he was incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. He gave us great insight into a variety of Turkish foods and their origins, as well as background to the different neighborhoods in Istanbul. You truly eat a ton of food on this tour so come hungry!
