Mystères d'Alfama : jeu d'exploration et visite de Lisbonne

I wanted to do an audio quest to discover a neighborhood in Lisbon in a different way. The real quest is the one to start it... you are given a starting point, then once you arrive, you are asked to re-download an app (Questo), create an account, etc. I had difficulty finding the login details. Finally, after going through these steps, we can finally begin. Annoyed by this waste of time, I quickly stopped the quest, not very excited by the beginning. I would thus have difficulty rating its quality. I find it shameful to have to download this second app, especially without being able to anticipate it. It should be simpler.

We enjoyed discovering quirky places in the old town area. However, answering some questions was frustrating as the format to the answers wasn't consistent. Better to offer the blanks for completion than just a text box. For example, one answer was rejected because the correct word Santo was used, when the English Saint was required. Later, the reverse! Also, answer 10 was rejected (bars) so when the answer had to be requested, the answer given was "bars" - not good! At this stage frustration gave way to quitting, and a glass of wine beckoned. I think the editor needs to rework this app quiz.

The whole app was clunky, difficult to use. I didn’t succeed in unlocking the tour so relied on my sister’s phone for the directions. She also was about to give up but by some miracle got it going. The first hour was incredibly frustrating as the geo location didn’t work properly, so we kept having to retrace and start again. The chat bot was useless couldn’t sort out our problems . All in all it would have been good, but because of all the problems it was horrendous. We did this exact same tour two years ago, it had lots of critical reviews how to improve it and make it workable. I chose this tour again because I thought all the glitches would have been sorted, they hadn’t and infact had gotten much worse. Save yourselves the bother and frustration and find another tour provider or just walk the streets of ALFAMA and discover it for yourselves.

I did this experience with my ex (we where already ex at the time) and even if we have fought like 100 times the experience was so interesting that we finished it. Nice for loving couples and toxic relationships, young and adults. One big up and 1 big down in the city but this is Lisbon and walking is healthy so no need to complain. Have fun!

Great experience! We did this together with our 3 year old son. To be honest, this is the first time we play such game and we did not expect to finish the game as we chose not to use pushchair due to the stairs etc. But my son was very involved. He took great pride in himself for walking to another stop and participating in mummy and daddy’s game. At every stop, we will find a bench for him to sit down and rest and then we would solve the puzzle. My son enjoyed himself having snacks, feeding the birds and there was one stop with a playground opposite to it. So we definitely all had a great time.

The concept of this game is great however there was a lot of issues with directions that became confusing. Directions weren’t specific and would often require use of maps to find locations.

This was my second Questo and both were great. I got to see places I wouldn’t have seen otherwise and learned about the city at my own pace.

A great way to have fun while touring the city. Sometimes there are small problems with the language

Nice walk through Alfama, and interesting places to visit (Fado museum, the Cathedral, Pantheon). It's a different and dynamic way of learning more details about the cities I visit.

The mystery is worth it, and you feel like you are part of the story all while exploring the city and its history. This was one of the best ways I've ever experienced visiting a new city and I'll be sure to keep Questo in mind when visiting new cities (or even cities I know) in the future.
