En passant par le célèbre quai de Bryggen et le site de l'UNESCO, nous quittons la ville animée en direction du Cercle d'Or des Fjords et des cascades.
Le pont Nordhordland a complètement fermé la magnifique région de l'Osterfjord aux croisiéristes depuis sa construction en 1994. Cette zone est donc inaccessible car les bateaux modernes sont beaucoup trop gros pour s'aventurer sous la petite crique. Le pont Nordhordland est une merveille d'ingénierie et est le plus long pont flottant d'Europe du Nord sans ancrages latéraux. La grande construction en arc est conçue pour résister au courant du fjord lorsque la marée entre et sort deux fois par jour.
Alors que nous longeons le fjord, nous faisons un arrêt au bord du fjord à Vikanes pour contempler les eaux miroitantes de cette zone hautement protégée. De hautes montagnes entourent l'endroit et font du vent et de la météo un phénomène de la ville de Bergen.
Le chenal de marée de Mostaruam est l'une des zones les plus étroites des fjords et c'est là que l'Osterfjord s'est arrêté jusqu'au printemps 1743, lorsqu'une grande crue a emporté l'exutoire de ce qui était autrefois une rivière du lac Mo. Résultat : la marée monte et avec elle l'eau salée. Le fjord est donc le « plus jeune » fjord de Norvège et n'existait pas il y a 300 ans.
Mo Village est un petit village pittoresque qui ne compte que 380 habitants. Le front de mer de Mo est un groupe de bâtiments modernes dont l'architecture s'inspire de longues traditions car il ressemble à la fois au quai de Bryggen à Bergen et aux maisons de mer historiques trouvées le long des rives du fjord dans de nombreux petits endroits. Ici, nous faisons un arrêt plus long de 20 minutes pour que les gens puissent aller aux toilettes et prendre une tasse de café dans les magasins locaux.
La cascade jumelle Hesjedalsfossen plonge dans une chute libre d'environ 63 mètres (206 pieds) lorsqu'elle tombe dans une cavité sur la rive du fjord. Nous nous arrêtons à quelques mètres et au printemps, il est conseillé d'apporter un parapluie pour avoir la meilleure vue et rester au sec.
Le pont de Kallestad relie la plus grande île intérieure d'Europe, Osteroy, au continent. Le pont offre un point de vue spectaculaire avec le paysage unique et sans route du Veafjord en arrière-plan. Certainement le spot photo le plus "chaud" de la tournée
Après Stamneshella, nous faisons un petit arrêt au courant de marée le plus fort du sud de la Norvège et là où le nom STRAUME se traduit en fait directement par le mot anglais « courant ». À marée descendante, le fjord ressemble à une rivière sauvage et la force de la nature devient évidente à voir de vos propres yeux. Après cet arrêt, nous commençons notre retour à Bergen en arrivant sur la plus grande route E-16 menant au port de croisière.

Terrible experience. We arrived at bergen and found out the ship came into a different port about 30 minutes away. Wedid not know this. The tour lasted to long for us to get back to the ship. I would think that viator and the tour company would verify if they could provide their service. When we called the vendor he replied he talk to viator. That didnt work out so well if he did try. Viator was no help either. Totally worthless. Also thw vendor said he was going to be at least 15 minutes late. Bottom line is we are out $700. Because they couldnt provide the service we paid for. They should not have sold a product they couldnt provide. They need to make sure they can provide the excursion. I dont read the language, so they should have been more help. I wouldnt concider this vendor again and why isnt viator of more help. DB

For clarity: we pick up guests from both cruise terminals in Bergen, and we always verify cruise ship logistics carefully. Bergen has more than one cruise terminal, and this is exactly why we ask for ship details before departure. We also operate with a Back to Ship Guarantee. If a guest were ever to miss their ship due to an error on our side, we would cover the transportation costs to the next port. We take cruise passenger logistics extremely seriously and have never had an issue where guests did not know where their ship was docking or where they needed to be picked up when booked with us. I’m sorry you had a bad experience, but based on the information in your review, this was not with our company. Tor our guide was a 5 and did a great job. Very knowledgeable and personable. Were given old van that was dirty, had engine trouble, and ceiling vent leaked water on two people off and on for six hours. Never should have been in use. Company was aware because they had several cloths there to wipe water w. It was ridiculous. Those two people should have gotten refunds. Felt bad for the guide. Wouldn’t recommend this touring company.
You are absolutely right – that vehicle should not have been used for a full-day tour. Under normal circumstances it is only used for short transfers. On this day, however, four of the eight guests went to the wrong cruise terminal. Bergen has two terminals, and by the time everyone was finally gathered, the time window had become so tight that we could not switch vehicles and still honor our back-to-ship guarantee. For cruise passengers, returning on time is critical – the ship will close its gangway without waiting – so we prioritized keeping that promise, even though it meant using a vehicle that was not up to our usual standards. I fully agree it was far from ideal, and I regret the inconvenience caused. Tor did his best under the circumstances, and I appreciate you recognizing his effort. – The Golden Circle Team
The driver Tor was very informative and helpful. Spoke English very well and was easy to chat with. Answered all questions fully and stopped for photos if asked. Great trip, had some rain (which is normal in September) and luckily had sunshine each time the bus stopped!
