Notre visite de Monument Valley commence en fait un peu en dehors de la vallée : Forest Gump Point. La crête de cette colline offre un panorama fantastique sur Monument Valley... rendu célèbre par le film !
Explorez le paysage spectaculaire et la riche histoire de Monument Valley grâce à une visite audio autonome le long de la route Navajo balisée de 17 miles. Nous ferons notre premier détour par Wildcat Trail, où vous pourrez vous promener dans la vallée elle-même.
Notre visite se poursuit au-delà des trois formations saisissantes du panorama emblématique de "Monument Valley". Ce sont les East and West Mittens et Merrick Butte. Pourquoi des mitaines ? Au fur et à mesure que nous apprenons, nous conduisons aussi. La visite nous amène à côté de Artist's Point. Ce belvédère, sans surprise, est célèbre parmi les peintres et les illustrateurs. D'innombrables artistes y ont installé des toiles et recréé ce magnifique paysage avec de la peinture et des pinceaux.
Notre route se poursuit vers le North Window Overlook, un endroit parfait pour admirer le lever du soleil. Ces rayons du matin illuminant les buttes et les flèches de Monument Valley ne sont pas quelque chose que vous oublierez de sitôt ! Même si vous êtes ici après le lever du soleil, les panoramas sont sans précédent.
Enfin, nous voici au dernier panorama incroyable du circuit : Camel Butte et Elephant Butte. Camel Butte ne ressemble peut-être pas particulièrement à un chameau, mais lorsque vous nommez des rochers, vous devez faire preuve de créativité ! Camel Butte atteint presque 1 000 pieds mais fait pâle figure par rapport à son frère, Elephant Butte, qui s'étend sur plus de 1 000 pieds de haut. Cela peut être impressionnant en soi, mais rappelez-vous que vous êtes actuellement sur un plateau qui est déjà élevé à environ 5 000 pieds. Cela signifie que le sommet d'Elephant Butte est à plus de 6 000 pieds au-dessus du niveau de la mer !

was not able to use the app as the internet was insufficient from our campground. Also the road was not passable in a sedan. a 4x4 was needed at the time.
Patricia, I’m sorry you were not able to use my Monument Valley Navajo Tribal Park GPS audio driving tour due to limited internet at your campground. My listing recommends downloading and setting up the app beforehand since service can be poor in the area, and once downloaded, the tour works offline. I also include a vehicle-and-road-condition note because Valley Drive has rough dirt roads and sandy areas, and access can change with the weather, so checking current park conditions before visiting is important. My tour is valid forever, so I’d love for you to try it again, and I’m available daily from 9 AM to 6 PM EST if you need any help.
Audio tour is extra and not necessary for trip. $10 per person entry to park and $15 per car for drive. Pay at the park. It's a very rough terrain for any car.

It's busy and hot so stay hydrated. Watch out for crazy tour bus drivers and don't try to take photos if you're driving.

Got to the starting point, the app connected and it never started despite numerous attempts so we just closed it and used the map. Highly recommend Monument Valley though.

Navajo Tribal Park Monument Valley Self-Guided Driving Tour Utah, United States Only high clearance vehicles allowed! When we arrived nearby, ready to take our self driving tour, we were informed by the tribal authorities that our vehicle ( a Sprinter camper van), was not allowed on the tour road. Only trucks and high-clearance off road vehicles are allowed. No cars, vans or RVs. The photo on the website which shows a paved road is very misleading. The road is very rutted and full of potholes, hence the reason for only high clearance vehicles. We had to cancel. Very disappointing. Viator refunded our tour charges after we complained. Reviewing here because Viator site said my review was ineligible. Hmmm.

The narration was engaging and easy to follow, offering fascinating historical and cultural insights we might otherwise have missed. We loved exploring at our own pace and stopping whenever we wanted for photos. It was a fantastic way to experience one of the most iconic landscapes in the American Southwest. Standard passenger vehicles are generally allowed on the Valley's 17-Mile Drive when conditions permit, while RVs, motorcycles, and off-road vehicles are not permitted.

Viator should do a better job of explaining where to go to start the tour. The directions should be: Drive to the Monument Valley entrance booth. There, pay $10 per person to enter the park. Also, pay $15 per vehicle to drive the park trail. This has to be done with a credit card. You will then drive through another checkpoint to show them the receipt of the money you just paid at the entrance booth. Once you go through that checkpoint, pull over to the side and start your downloaded audio tour. Proceed. These instructions will eliminate future confusion for other guests. Had I been provided these instructions, I would have given the top score because the audio tour itself was excellent. Also I would note that the Navajo people at the park are not at all interested in seeing the audio tour voucher.

I was able to connect it to Apple CarPlay so that not only did we hear it throughout the car and everyone could seethe pictures on the screen. The app was easy to use and I will definitely use it again in other locations if it’s available.

Fantastic day driving through monuments at monument valley. The self driving tour audio was great, lots of facts about the area and Navajo history. The tour responded to where we were on the 17 mile drive, and gave clear instructions. It was nice to do at own pace and stop and take pictures when we wanted. Highly recommend but make sure you have high clearance vehicle. Road rough and not for all vehicles as stated in the Navajo park rules. Stunning scenery and well worth the visit.
