Montréal Dark History : Crime, châtiment et scandale | MTL Detours

Description

This is a wonderful tour! Our guide Louise was very knowledgeable and engaging. She walked around Old Montreal and told us about the darker side of the city's history. This is NOT a ghost tour, it is a history tour. Louise brought multiple stories full circle as we went to different parts of the city. Cannot recommend this tour enough
Wow! Thank you so much for this amazing review! We are delighted that you enjoyed this tour. Louise is indeed an amazing guide and we are very happy that you appreciated her knowledge about our hidden stories here in our great city! Thank you for choosing MTL Detours!

As Montrealers we were very surprised to learn that so many atrocities occured in our city. The guide was knowledgeable and concise. We highly recommend.
This was my second tour with MTL Detours, and it absolutely did not disappoint! Our guide brought Old Montreal to life with fascinating, gritty stories about the shady characters who once ruled these streets. I learned so much and highly recommend this tour to anyone looking to experience the real history of the city beyond the fancy boutiques and restaurants.
What a unique tour!!!"Dark History" sounds kind of ominous but it was one of the most interesting walking tours I've done yet! Isabelle our guide was so energetic and knowledgeable; she took shady chapters and characters from Montreal's history and brought them to life through story-telling, photos and various landmarks in Old Montreal. I definitely could have stayed and longer, and I definitely recommend this to anyone interested in a broader history of the city.
A well researched history of Montreal’s seamier side complete with photographic evidence and a side dish of humour. Time well spent.
Just went on the new Montreal Dark History tour with a very engaging and friendly guide. She was always amenable to answering questions and great at quickly adapting to unexpected changes in environment & detours. Tour was super interesting and filled with lots of history and previously unknown facts on Montreal's unsavoury past. Highly recommended!
We've gone on a previous walking tour with this operator, so I was pretty confident it would be very interesting. I wasn't disappointed. It gave me the chance to be a tourist in the city I live in, which allowed me to stop and look around in the Old City (Vieux port) and really experience what was there. The architecture, the ways buildings had been transformed into other things, and the stories that go along with it. On to the tour. Everything on the tour was news to me. I learned so much about, well, the nastier history of the city. The unfair things, some of the criminality, the unfortunate events that plagued the city. I talked about my experiences with a neighbour, who knew some of the history and was delights to know that we spoke of infamous characters she was also aware of #noSpoilers. I recommend the tour. I was surprised it was over when it was, and wanted so much more story telling, it was so fascinating. There was never a problem hearing our guide, as she is a pro and knows how to gather the people close and speak to the participants directly. It's not really for small children; it's a lot of walking and standing. But, for the mature audience it's a winner for sure.
