Chaque matin, avant le lever du soleil; Alors que les réverbères de Calcutta s'éteignent, nous commençons la visite de l'heure magique pour regarder Calcutta se réveiller. Nous montons dans le premier bus de la journée depuis le plus vieux quartier de Calcutta alors que la ville entre dans l'heure magique enchanteresse. En serpentant à plein régime dans la localité endormie de 300 ans, les prochaines heures sont consacrées à la visite des quartiers les plus anciens de Calcutta. Avant que la ville géante animée ne se réveille, nous aurions utilisé tous les modes de transport emblématiques, déjeuné dans un endroit caché vieux d'un siècle, bavardé sur Calcutta comme un local, parlé de son histoire, de l'anthropologie et tomber désespérément amoureux de la ville. La «visite non guidée», comme nous l'appelons, commence par un Chai (thé) dans un bhaad (tasses en terre) et se termine par un petit-déjeuner bengali traditionnel, les meilleures douceurs de Calcutta. Enjoyed a fantastic “magic hour” tour of Kolkata! One of the highlights of my trip to India!. The tour included both food (chai and separate breakfast) in local venues I never would have found on my own and incorporated local travel modes that also would have been difficult to navigate as a foreigner. Tour was so insightful and thoughtfully laid out. I would highly recommend and would go out of my way to take his other tours when back in Kolkata!!!
This was such an amazing tour! I got to watch the city early in the day, the layers. It was a walking tour mostly but I was also on a bus, a boat and it was such a unique experience with the locals. I loved the food, stories, flower market and learning about the goddess Kali. I highly recommend.

I believe the best time to visit anywhere is in the early morning so I booked this tour for my partner and myself. And here in Kolkata I was right! What an amazing tour. In a tough city to get to the nitty gritty you need a hand and joining Soham on the Magic hour tour was just the hand needed. He has put his heart and soul into this tour and his knowledge and passion about his home city was infectious. With a city like Kalkata you need to scratch deep for its magic once you see it you never forget it. Great tour great city. Get your lazy ass out of bed and book it! Highly recommended. Thanks 🙏🏽
Soham is lovely, do this tour! (Or any of his others!) He is knowledgeable, eloquent and engaging, and the time flew by very enjoyably. He is from Kolkata and obviously loves sharing his passion about it. He will point out things you otherwise wouldn’t notice. It was good to do this trip soon after we arrived to help us get our bearings and ask some general questions. We are very glad we booked it, and we are not early morning people!!!!

What an amazing tour! Thank you Soham for showing the hidden gems of the city (which as tourist I wouldn’t be able to know without the local’s knowledge), he is such a great storyteller that makes the whole experience interesting and fun. I get to try different local transportation and learn the history of Kolkata, it’s truly an unique experience and I highly recommend people who visit the city for the first time to sign up for this tour!
