La randonnée d'Umoljani et de Lukomir à la montagne de Bjelasnica est tout simplement à voir et à expérimenter pour tous les vrais amoureux de la nature, si l'on arrive à Sarajevo et en Bosnie-Herzégovine. Une vue imprenable sur le canyon de Rakitnica, les paysages incroyables de la montagne Bjelasnica, le mode de vie du village nomade le plus éloigné de Bosnie, l'histoire et la culture uniques des communautés locales et un peu de mythologie dans un endroit unique en Bosnie. Herzégovine.

Nous passons par les célèbres pistes de ski olympique de 1984 sur la montagne de Bjelašnica.
Nous allons apprendre pourquoi la mosquée Umoljani est la seule mosquée qui n’a pas été incendiée ni détruite par l’armée de la Republika Srpska sur l’ensemble du territoire de la Bosnie-Herzégovine qu’elle a contrôlé lors de l’agression de la Bosnie-Herzégovine de 1992-1995.
Randonnée agréable de 3 heures dans le village d'Umoljani à travers Canyong de la rivière Rakitnica et explorations étonnantes de la cascade de Peruce, Studeni Potok, l'une des plus belles vallées de Bosnie-Herzégovine et de l'histoire du "Dragon d'Umoljani". En fin de journée, nous ferons environ 7 à 8 heures de marche, ce qui en vaudra la peine. Le village d'Umoljani est surtout connu pour peu de choses: Dragon lapidé, Mosquée et Haggadah de Sarajevo et Studeni Potok (Cold Creek). Une fois à Umoljani, préparez-vous pour un déjeuner vraiment extraordinaire: Begova Corba (ragoût local), Krompiruša (tarte aux pommes de terre) ou Sirnica (fromage fait) et Burek (viande faite), avec encore du yaourt et de la salade locale. Rien dans le monde ne bat cela.
Lorsque nous laisserons notre voiture au village d’Umoljani, nous commencerons notre randonnée d’une durée approximative de 3-4 heures pour rejoindre le village de Lukomir. Le sentier nous mènera d'un point de départ d'environ 1275 mètres (Umoljani) au sommet d'Obalj à environ 1896 mètres avec plus de 620 mètres de dénivelé positif. Tous ces travaux pénibles paieront une fois au sommet, car les vues sur Studeni Potok, les gorges de Rakitnica et les montagnes de Treskavica, Visocica et le sommet de la montagne de Bjelasnica avec ses nombreux petits villages au loin seront tout simplement magnifiques. Après un peu de repos et de jouissance totale du corps et de l’esprit, nous sommes prêts à partir en randonnée jusqu’au village de Lukomir à une altitude de 1 500 mètres, ce qui sera également une histoire "unique en son genre". Une fois sur place, nous prenons un temps de repos mérité, prenant un café local et un peu de nourriture.Veuillez noter que, selon la période de l’année, nous pouvons avoir de la chance d’avoir des champs de myrtilles, de cynorhodon, de certains types de champignons, de thym les autres espèces de plantes autour de nous sont gratuites à ramasser. Lukomir est la plus peuplée et habitée la plus grande partie de l’année (sauf ces dernières années, au cours de la saison hivernale intense où les habitants quittent le village jusqu’au début du printemps) et la plus isolée des villages nomades de Bosnie-Herzégovine.
Une partie de la randonnée se fera par l’étonnant Studeni Potok (Cold Creek) à la montagne Bjelašnica.

This hike was incredible. It was very challenging, especially the first half, because you are climbing straight up a mountain to the summit and then down the other side, but the views.. oh, the views! The village of Lukomir was really cool to experience as well, and we had a fantastic lunch made by one of the locals with local ingredients. This is probably my favorite thing we’ve ever done on vacation. Book this tour!
This was a great fun and challenging hike, we went to the top of the mountain above Lukomir! The photos I got were crazy good!!! If your fitness is good, you should do it!
Pictures just won’t do justice! I have always wanted to go up to Lukomir after my first trip to Bosnia in 2019. Sadly I never had gotten to visit Lukomir in 2021. But in life we must be grateful with the experiences we get. The downs always make you look forward to coming back and making sure that you do it and I did it! I finally got the chance to get some good hiking experience in. This will help me with future hikes on different peaks. I loved Lukomir, it so much resembled the village of Theth in Albania, where semi nomads live high up in altitude, like agro tourism. It gives us a sense of how certain tribes and families lived up in the mountains during the past. Tariq was a decent guide in that he explained a little about the lifestyle of these nomadic groups and how long they were living up in the mountains. Tariq also helped us by giving us hiking tips to Obalj- a steep hill climb after a heavy lunch and quicker decent back down through rocky terrain- much helpful to me in future hikes. I enjoyed the company of another British family visiting bosnia and learnt a lot from them as they were interested in the former Yugoslavia and they’re son was into the outdoors just like me. The driver also joined us on the hike and made sure we do not get lost on trail. Overall a good way to end the trip.
We have just completed the hiking tour to Lukomir village and I can highly recommend it if you want to see and understand the traditional Bosnian culture and see some amazing scenery then this is a great trip. It is a challenging hike but we had an excellent guide and felt we were in safe hand. During the hike you stop at one breathtaking view after another the scenery is truly amazing. The Lukomir village is not undiscovered but was a lovely place for a lunch stop of good traditional food. If you are looking for tours whilst in Bosnia then book with Funky Tours as in my experience then you couldn’t be in safety hands.

The hike to Lukomir is more difficult than stated. Sturdy hiking boots and poles are helpful. If you are an inexperienced hiker this may not be the trip for you. If you are, you will see the most gorgeous views. Our guide Harm was a delight and our group bonded over the hours together. We never made it to the back 9 km of the hike because it took hours to do the first 10 km. With that said, I am delighted to have done the hike and would recommend it only to people that understand that the hike is physically grueling at times. Also thought we were having lunch with the Nomads and would learn about their customs. This was not the case we ate at their restaurant. They could not have been more gracious.
We booked onto the 1 day trip to Lukomir with pick up and return to Sarajevo. Communication from both Edna and Ema prior to the trip was efficient and speedy. Our guide Elvira was spot on time for the pick up and we had a great trip. It turned out to be only myself and my brother on the tour (we did a Monday). The drive to the start point of the walk was only around 1 hour from Sarajevo, so not far at all. The walk was around 10 miles there and back. A great walk, not too challenging but more than enough to feel as though you've done a good days exercise! The views were spectacular. Elvira was a good guide and gave us some local history along the way and was very friendly. It was handy having lunch included in Lukomir. It was also a nice touch to receive a follow up email from Amela a couple of days later to check how we'd enjoyed the trip. Throughout the whole process, communication from the team was efficient and they seemed very passionate about providing a good & memorable experience for their guests. We did 2 weeks touring the country independently and were seriously impressed with what we found. Bosnia and Herzegovina has a great deal to offer from a tourism point of view, and if you're in Sarajevo - be sure to book an extra day and take this tour!

I did hiking to Lukomir with Funky tour and it was the best hiking tour ever! I cannot recommend Funky Tours enough, because these guys are simply the best. Well everything was memorable, the views, the lunch and the sore feet afterwards. We had a great group and we supported each other throughout the day. It is an epic trek and you have to be fit to complete the hike. Elvira was our guide and was great.
