Terrible! Misses the point of Matilda completely, turns it into a drag artist sideshow! Offending for young eyes and impressionable minds. My daughter kept asking when relatable lovable parts in the movie were going to come up, they never came. It’s so disjointed from the original it’s unrecognisable to even call it Matilda. Save your money, and rewatch the film at home you’ll enjoy it much more than this rubbish.
Amazing show, easy to get in with our Viator tickets. The children and Trunchbull were a delight, and so was the rest of the cast!
Sorry to have to say but this musical was just awful. You could barely understand Matilda’s words. The actors, both the children and adults literally screamed their lines the entire performance. And, the man who plays Mrs Trunchbull blows this incredibly loud whistle for a prolonged time, and repeatedly during the show. My ears felt like they were on fire. I wanted so badly to leave during the intermission, but stayed to see if it got any better. Unfortunately it did not. I saw many others not return to their seats after the intermission. Save your money for another show. This one seriously disappoints.
It’s a brilliant show, full of drama, great tunes and clever staging. At times the story becomes a little dark and Miss Trunchball can be a bit aggressive so suggest not for too young a child. There are flashing lights and loud noises at times too.
We were in the upper seating, it was hard to see and hear. I am sure the play was wonderful, we couldn't understand many of the words from being far and also had to stand or lift up to see some acts. I wish it was better explained in buying the tickets. The theater itself was clean, well-managed with staff, The seating between us in upper and the floor level was full of students who were loud and misbehaving. Actually, tossing items over the ledge to the lower guests, ice. what have you. I am sure they wished us full paying customers were in those seats when the guests downstairs spoke up.
This show was absolutely fantastic to watch, some great humour added in and the young lady who plays Matilda is absolutely incredible.
We saw this show yesterday afternoon 2pm (12 April 2025) and It was exquisite. The young girl who played Matilda was excellent. Cannot believe how good she was in that role. Very well rehearsed and not a line out of place. Congratulations young lady. You have a bright future ahead of you !! The cast was brilliant too.
I was very disappointed watching Matilda. I didn't understand the plot and was told by friends that it was about little girl who knew how to do magic but what I discovered was the story was very complicated disjointed the sound was very poor so the wording was muffled and I found it quite hard to follow I didn't enjoy it however with that being said I thought Matilda herself was very good actress a lot of lines a lot of movement and dancing and she had a lot of stamina as did all the cast. I wouldn't advise to go and see this it just seemed like a lot of screaming kids running around.
Great show almost missed it due to buying tickets on this site - The tickets didn’t print our seat numbers, and then our names and emails were not given to the box office. Wonderful show once we sorted it out.
Great experience. The only down was the fact that the tickets didn’t have the seat numbers and it took a while for the people at the venue to find my reservation.
