Description

Among the best of the many food tours we've taken

Laura was an excellent tour guide. We have been on many, many food tours and this was one of the best. The food was wide ranging and high quality, with plenty of it. And the history provided by Laura was in-depth and directly related to the foods we were eating. Terrific experience!

A big yummy history lesson!

Kika was our guide for this wonderful tour. We got lucky and my husband and I were the only ones on the tour, so we got to ask more questions than we would have been able to if there were others in the group. There is a heavy emphasis on Portugal's history during the tour, which was great A big hfor us, since it had been a while since we had heard about explorers like Vasco de Gama lol. Kika was so warm, knowledgeable, and had an obvious love for Lisbon and her country. My favorite was probably the pastel de nata spot she took us to that we wouldn't have gone to on our own. A great experience!

Would absolutely recommend!

What an amazing way to see part of Lisbon! We ate delicious food at restaurants we probably never would have found on our own. We met locals and learned about the history and culture or Portugal. The groups are small enough that you don’t feel lost in a crowd, and you can enjoy stimulating conversation together over your meals. Our tour guide, Kika, was knowledgeable, kind, and a joy to be around. I would absolutely recommend these tours, and I can’t wait to book my next one!

Best food tour in Lisbon!

What an amazing experience to spend the day with Kika! Her former life as a teacher shines through with her way to visually represent the history of the region alongside so much delicious food. Our second Culinary Backstreets tour and definitely won’t be our last. The absolute best of the best!

Highly Recommend!

I very highly recommend this tour. Our guide Kika was extraordinary and it was wonderful to be introduced to places enjoyed by locals and that we never would have found on our own. And we had the best pastel de nata in town! We will certainly do more tours with Culinary Backstreets in other cities.

The real sights, sounds and taste of Lisbon.

The best way to experience Lisbon, away from the tourist traps and amongst genuine neighbourhoods, genuine locals and genuine flavours. Kika was an exceptional guide, offering our small group an intimate and super interesting history lesson that tied together everything about our surroundings in Portugual- the people, the places and of course the flavours. Highly recommended.

Lisbon food tour

We had a fantastic time on our walking food tour of Lisbon with Laura. She was incredibly informative, sharing interesting insights about Portugal’s history, culture, and culinary traditions throughout the tour. Her passion for both the country and its food was evident and made the experience even more enjoyable. The food stops were excellent, and Laura did a wonderful job explaining the significance of each dish and drink we sampled. We also really enjoyed the small group setting. It was intimate enough to get to know our fellow travelers and share experiences, but never felt crowded or overwhelming. This tour was one of the highlights of our time in Lisbon. I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to explore the city through its food while learning from a knowledgeable and enthusiastic local guide.

Best food tour and loved every minute of it!

What a wonderful tour … loved every minute of it and it lived up to all expectations and more! Laura was the most fantastic guide who shared so many interesting stories and took us to places we would not have found without her - each of which was delicious and fascinating. Highly recommend this tour (and Laura) and can’t wait to hopefully do another tour soon - culinary backstreet tours are worth every penny.
