We enjoyed the dinner of pea soup, duck, potatoes, cabbage and wine. Nice couple didn't speak English but the driver was a friend and interpreter. Tour of the house. Long drive from Budapest to the suburb.
We had an amazing time with our hosts! Our guide and hosts were absolutely amazing! So friendly and interesting! The food was amazing and awesome to learn about the history and culture of locals. Highly recommend!!

The dinner was the highlight of our river cruise down the Danube. The food and wine were great, and the hosts were most gracious in inviting us into their home and preparing a special meal for us to enjoy with them. The hosts also went out of their way to prepare special food for my wife, a vegetarian, and for my daughter in law who is gluten intolerant. It felt like we were having a dinner with friends. We learned more about, and developed a new-found appreciation for, Hungarian culture. Do not miss this opportunity if you visit Budapest. Finally, the arrangements our hosts made to pick us up and return us to our cruise ship were flawless. A clear 10 out of 10.

Attila was our guide and driver, to and from our hotel, which is a very nice benefit. He gave us interesting information about Hungary’s history and joined us for the lunch. Our hosts, Daniel and Kata, kindly welcomed us into their home and prepared a delicious, authentic Hungarian 3-course meal. It’s the best meal of our trip! I highly recommend this experience, to be able to meet and share a wonderful meal with a Hungarian family where they live.

Wow! Want to feel like a true local? Book this! Driver/interpreter was amazing, had a family connection to our hosts which made it even more interesting hearing all of their history. We felt like their family by the end of it. Food was superb, made with love. I want to go back and just hang out on the couch with them!
The host couple had a very young baby and honestly weren’t really ready to host tourists, again. We did have some interesting conversations but the mum looked a little frazzled and kept disappearing. I felt sorry for her as she had clearly been pressured into hosting, this night. Also, make sure that your dietary requirements are clearly communicated.
Dear Catherine, we do not force anybody to do anything. One the hand hand, we are not like that. On the other hand, it does not fit with the whole concept of welcoming people and spending a good time together with them. We would not be able to please people, also we would not have got all of these good reviews. I asked Kata (the mom) about this, and she said she was tired on that day, which happens to women having their first baby. There were three of us hosts at the dinner, doing our best to entertain you. We are sorry that we were not successful.
Our Hungarian dinner with locals was great. A nice young couple with a baby. Food was great. The pickup and return to our hotel was very unique and greatly appreciated. A highlight of our visit to Budapest.

Excellent evening and the food was wonderful, Hungarian gourmet! Hosts were reliving and gracious. Highly recommended. Would do this again if I come back to Budapest.
