An amazing pilgrimage for me having been a lifelong fan of hip hop culture.
This tour was beyond INSANE! Me, my husband and my mum were visiting NYC from the UK. My near 70-year old mum decided she wanted to check out the Bronx/Harlem, not quite sure she knew what she was letting herself in for. The irony was this tour was made for me, I was in my absolute element. We were incredibly lucky enough to be hosted by the amazing Rayza and John. The trip from start to finish was packed with history and musical memories rap highlights from living legends to those who unfortunately have passed way too early. Dancing in the middle of a basketball court in the middle of Harlem in front of a bunch of strangers was something I never expected but loved. You will not see picture perfect Graffiti than on this tour... it is artwork at it's best. We all loved the tour and meeting all the people on our bus. Rayza was the most fire guide ever, his love, passion, rapping, friendliness, knowledge was everything. The community are lucky to have him. This tour was the most unexpected, knowlegable, fun, happy, tour I think I've ever been on. I've been fortunate enough to go on lots of tours around the world and this is one of a kind. For anyone curious, wanting to get an insight into the culture, life and people of Harlem and the Bronx in a safe and fun environment then this tour is a MUST... GO!!! 11th August 1973... forever! Thank you Rayza and John, big love from London xxx :-)
It was a great tour. The tour guide (Razor) kept us entertained and very informed about NY. I would definitely recommend this tour to others. Also, the driver John was great and we felt safe in his care.
If you love hip hop and the culture, this is a must! From early beginnings in 1973 to current artists, they explore it all showing where the artists lived and how they were inspired to rise. Also includes Apollo Theater, Graffiti Hall of Fame and, especially for me, Rucker Park! Rayza was a great host who kept the energy high the whole time with his mix of hits from 5 decades to his freestyle on the mic. OG John is clearly a legend and knows all the people and places where hip hop began, evolved and thrived. Check this one out.. Really worth your time.
Highly recommend this fun, engaging, and thorough tour! Our guide Rayza was knowledgeable, high energy and super talented. We all really got an immersive experience in art, culture and history of Harlem and the Bronx. Highly recommend if you want a tour experience that extends beyond typical NY sightseeing!
Our original time had to be changed due to lack of participants however, we were accommodated into another time slot. I spoke with Monique on the phone and she was extremely pleasant and helpful. Our tour guide RayZa was on FIRE!!!!! What a performer, keeping us all entertained despite the gloomy weather. He was very knowledgeable and made sure my birthday twins had an excellent time. We all loved the tour (including my daughter who isn’t much of a hip hop fan so there you go!!!!!!!)
My kids and I had an amazing day! Mike C (and his right-hand man John) was the perfect host; Positive energy, encyclopedic knowledge of Hip Hop's history, and always happy to answer questions. We got stories, historic locations around Harlem and the Bronx, and plenty of film and TV references too. Kid Glyde - legendary B-Boy - gave us a crash course in breakdancing, we saw plenty of graffiti murals, and even met some of Mike's friends and family. Couldn't recommend this tour enough, thank you so much.
It's a great tour very informative, and the guides were the best 👌 Mike and John teach so much and in a fun way, it was a wonderful experience. We'll definitely go again and bring friends! Mike is very passionate about the things he talked about we loved it! Thank you!
I would put The Birthplace of Hip Hop Tour on my must do list for New York. Mike C was our host and Tuffy was our driver. The two of those guys were so knowledgeable about the neighborhoods, artists, and the early days of hip hop. Mike C was there for the birth of Hip Hop and hearing his personal accounts and stories were amazing. Standing on the hallowed grounds of Hip Hop on Sedgwick Ave while Mike C recounted the stories was the highlight of the tour. This is a tour of heartfelt passion and emotion surrounding the world of hip hop.
This tour was incredible! My wife and I are in the US from Australia and me being a huge fan of the golden age of Hip Hop and especially NYC it was everything I hoped for! The knowledge from Mike C and our driver Toughy on the origins of not only Hip Hop but also the history of Harlem and the Bronx is second to none. Any fan of Hip Hop around the world needs to do this pilgrimage to the birthplace! The Mecca!
