Lamsaty Ceramic painting class, Marrakech

The ceramic painting class was so much fun from the staff to the tea that was served and the staff was so helpful when providing inspiration pictures for your design on whatever ceramic dish you choose or you could just freestyle. The music was good from Moroccan music to r&b the whole experience was amazing and I didn’t feel rushed at all.

The studio, and the siblings running it are lovely. It is a bright, modern, cosy space that you really enjoy spending a few hours in. You can choose an item of 11 cm to paint, which is included in the price, or pay a bit more if you want something taller/larger, and a catalogue of patterns and motifs is provided for inspiration. Of course, there are also a choice of different paint colours and lots of paint brushes. You are then given a brief explanation and you are good to go. I found the experience very satisfying and relaxing. I even forgot to finish the mint tea that was provided. As I like painting, but am not much of a talent, the result looked a bit like the Easter eggs I painted as a child, but I most definitely had fun doing it and was still very proud of it! You can pick up the finish product two days later (it needs to bake in the oven first) or they even have it delivered to your hotel or riad. Be mindful that the studio is about 20 minutes away from the medina by taxi, depending on traffic. I will definitely return for another creative experience at Lamsaty on my next visit to Marrakech.
