Description

While the tour was amazing I think there should be more transparency on what occurs on the tour. My travel companion was having a little difficulty with the altitude, so we were taking it easy. I booked this tour thinking it was a cruise, you go to the floating islands, have lunch and then go back. Nowhere in the description did it say to have lunch you have to hike 1km up a hill (it may be further). If this was in the description I would have cancelled but instead we were left with the choice of climbing a hill with my companion sucking on oxygen or sit on a boat for 2 hours waiting. As I said previously the floating islands were wonderful but I think the walk to the lunch should be mentioned for travellers to make an informed choice.
Dear Kylie, Thank you very much for sharing your feedback and for joining our Lake Titicaca experience. We are very happy to know that you enjoyed the Uros Floating Islands and the overall experience on the lake. We also truly appreciate your comments regarding the walk on Taquile Island. As this is a traditional and authentic local community located on a natural island in Lake Titicaca, some walking is indeed part of the experience, especially to reach the restaurant area and viewpoints. The paths are not considered difficult, and travelers are always welcome to walk at their own pace and rest whenever needed. However, we completely understand that altitude can affect each traveler differently, and we sincerely regret that this part of the tour was uncomfortable for your companion. Your feedback is very valuable to us, and we will review the tour description internally to see how we can make this information clearer for future travelers. Thank you once again for your visit and for supporting local communities on Lake Titicaca ✨ Kind regards, Planet Odysseys Team
Pick up was on time , we had a great guide and boat driver. The guide gave us so much information about the history and how the islands were built , the wildlife etc and the lake . The island we visited was great and had a female chief - impressive. They showed us through using models and materials how the islands are constructed. The lunch was delicious and they catered for my vegan diet . Very good day .
Thank you, Zareen, for sharing your wonderful experience. We're delighted to know you enjoyed the informative tour, the unique culture of the islands, and the delicious vegan meal. It's our pleasure to create memorable experiences for our guests!
Great trip picked up from hotel on time Informative guide Interesting learning how people live on reed islands And way of life on the second island great lunch Comfortable boat
Thank you, Ren, for sharing your experience! We're glad to hear you enjoyed learning about the unique lifestyles and appreciated the comfort of the journey. Your feedback inspires us to continue providing memorable experiences for our travelers.
This review isn’t aimed directly at the tour company but rather the experience on the islands. We arrived at Uros island and my partner and I found it to be rather uncomfortable. You are ushered into the local’s homes, they dress you in their clothes and then proceed to guilt trip you into buying their stuff. We also were told each island only has 1 visit every 3 weeks to further guilt trip you but upon research we found this was definitely false!! We found it to be extremely inauthentic and choreographed for your money. On top of that, we were directed onto their boat where they take you to another island. Yet once you are sat on the boat and the boat has left the island, they come around collecting money from you which isn’t optional! It is complete manipulation. The second island is much better but still very staged and it makes me sad that the people now completely rely on tourism to live. Definitely do not pay £42 either as you can get it for 30soles the day before at the port in Puno :)
Dear Luca, Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We genuinely appreciate you taking the time to describe your experience. We’re sorry to hear that certain aspects of the visit to the Uros Floating Islands felt uncomfortable. The Uros communities independently manage their tourism activities, and while their intention is to share their culture and traditions, we understand that at times this may feel structured or commercial. Tourism today plays a vital role in supporting these communities, and we always aim to ensure the experience remains respectful and informative rather than pressured. Regarding the reed boat ride, we would like to clarify that this is completely optional. Our guides are instructed to clearly explain any additional activities and costs in advance so travelers can make an informed decision. We will continue reinforcing this to ensure full transparency at all times. With respect to the pricing mentioned (£42 vs. 30 soles), it is important to clarify that these are not equivalent services. The tour offered by Planet Odysseys includes: • Organized round-trip transportation • Professional bilingual guide • Entrance fees to the islands • Structured itinerary and time management • Customer support and operational reliability The option available at the port (around 30 soles) is typically a basic local arrangement, which does not include the same level of service, guidance, or overall experience. While both options are available to travelers, they differ significantly in quality, organization, and support. We’re glad to hear you enjoyed the second island and the beauty of Lake Titicaca. Your feedback regarding authenticity is valuable, and we continuously work with our guides and local partners to improve how these cultural experiences are presented. Thank you once again for your feedback — it helps us continue to refine and elevate the experiences we offer. Regards, Paula.
A big thanks to our guide, Abel for making this trip a memorable one. The tour company was very well organized and easy to reach out to. Miluska, helped me plan the tour and provided all information to plan everything smoothly. The price included all admission fee and the group size was very small, around 12 people. Highly recommend for someone interested in knowing more about local traditions and customs and doing this on the way in or out of Puno to Bolivia.
I had a wonderful day exploring Lake Titicaca and visiting the beautiful Uros Floating Islands and Taquile Island. The scenery was stunning and it was fascinating to learn about the local traditions and way of life. Our guide was friendly and very knowledgeable, which made the experience even more special. Taquile Island was peaceful and the views of the lake were incredible. I highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting the area!
