Must-visit nature spot in Armenia - Lake Sevan "Jewel of Armenia" Lake Sevan took my breath away. Sitting at 1,900 meters above sea level, the water is so clear and vast that it feels like an inland sea, not a lake. The air is crisp, the mountains in the distance create a stunning backdrop, and the silence is only broken by the waves. Lake Sevan is one of the largest high-altitude freshwater lakes in the world, and you feel that scale the moment you arrive. 940 square kilometers of water surrounded by volcanic mountains. It’s surreal. What blew my mind: The landscape: The contrast is unreal. Deep blue water, black volcanic rock, green meadows, and snow-capped peaks in the distance. It changes color every hour. I spent the afternoon walking along the shore, dipping my feet in the surprisingly refreshing water, and watching the light change on the surface. It’s not just beautiful scenery — there’s a deep sense of peace here. You also must visit Sevanavank Monastery on the peninsula. The view from there over the entire lake is unforgettable. Sevanavank Monastery: Perched on a peninsula, these 874 AD churches feel like they’re guarding the lake. The panoramic view from the top is easily the best in Armenia. The energy: There’s something deeply peaceful here. Locals come to relax, families picnic, artists paint. It’s not touristy. It’s real. If you want to experience the real soul of Armenia outside of Yerevan, come to Sevan. It’s nature, history, and tranquility all in one place. 5 stars.

Lunch at the wine factory was very good as was the tour - be careful with the Vodka as goes up to 84%…. A great day out

Would NOT recommend for a non-Russian speaking solo traveller. I’m not saying the tour is bad for groups/Russian speakers but unless you want to be isolated and clueless 80% of the time this tour is not for you. Firstly the tour is advertised as English/Russian. How it works is the guide explains in English then Russian. It is not separated. However, the English version is very basic and much shorter. I do speak/understand a little Russian which I did not inform the guide as I felt it was irrelevant since I signed up in English, thus I know the English version was lacking. This also means that you’re sat there not understanding anything a lot of the time. Also as 90% of the guests were Russian speaking, overall the tour was 80% in Russian. Even when the winery guide was doing the English parts the Yerani guide Sam would joke and laugh in Russian at the side. It was extremely rude and distracting. No fault to the guests, it is not their responsibility to create an inclusive environment. At the monastery, the guide did the explanation in Russian first and told me to wait and come back in 15min. I walked around a bit, came back early and waited at the side for them to finish. The whole group went outside and I thought the guide would return for the English part but he was nowhere to be found. Thus the entire hour I was alone with zero explanation about where I was. Since there was only me and another couple for the English portion there’s no way he just didn’t notice I wasn’t there. Especially as he told me to walk around and come back. The operations side was also poorly handled. First no clear instructions were giving regarding the location and time of the pick up. I had to email in to ask. The minivans are also unmarked. Our minivan then had a problem and we had to change vehicles 15min into the journey. There weren’t enough seats at the back and someone had to go to the front. The guide also was unaware that I had already selected and paid for my meal online when I made the booking.
We were on a nine-hour tour with driver Marat and guide Samwell. Time has flown under the radar, the driver and guide are very positive, open, friendly. Said the guide was very interesting, with notes of humor. We're thrilled.
